How to use Gifs with your Stream Deck via Steamlabs OBS (and more)

The Elgato Stream Deck is superb. Throw in some gifs and it's even more awesome. With this guide I'll show you how to add gifs to your Stream Deck so you can activate them in your stream on Twitch, YouTube or whatever.

This works with Streamlabs OBS but also OBS classic and others.
You need to:
- Have gifs stored locally on your PC
- Create a new SCENE with a source that includes the gifs
- Add the gifs in as media sources
- Order, resize and place the gifs where you want them
- Pull the gif source into your main scene
- Add them to stream deck via Streamlabs OBS sources.

Easy.

I know I'm late to the party but thank you, this was excellent 👌

Great video, clear and simple. Late to the party, but it might be useful to some. Instead of nested sources, I used the downstream keyer plugin instead, and the gifs are not scene dependent anymore 🎉
That plugin should be in OBS core feature set tbh

Thank you for this!! I did the same thing but with my emotes and just set images instead of GIFs, and I absolutely love seeing all my cute emotes on my stream deck <3

Is there a way to put them all in a folder and set one button on the stream deck to randomly select 1 each time?

SOLUTION: WHEN THE GIF ONLY PLAYS ONCE

Scenario: You want a GIF, or multiple GIFs, to play and want to be able to use it when you want in your stream.
Problem: You have the GIF hidden on OBS and when you hit the Stream Deck button, it unhides the GIF, plays it, but doesn't hide it so that you can use it again.
Solution:
Step 1: Create Multi Action button on Stream Deck.
Step 2: Add "Streamlabs Desktop: Source" and link to GIF on OBS Sources (as instructed in the video).
Step 3: Add "Stream Deck: Delay" (this will take some tinkering around at the end to get the time to match the length of the GIF).

Step 4: Add a duplicate (copy and paste) "Streamlabs Desktop: Source" with the link to the same GIF on OBS Source.
Step 5: On the duplicate, click on the drop down that says "Activate" and select "Deactive".

So the order in the Multiple Action should be:
Streamlabs: Source (where it activates)
Steam Deck: Delay
Streamlabs: Source (where it deactivates)

If you want multiple GIFs, you must have an activate source and deactivate source for each one.

Hope this helps! :)

I cant tell what scenes are active, they must have removed the icon display for scene on and off? Does anyone know how to fix this?

When I change scenes and come back to the one with all the gifs, they all play as if i've pressed all the buttons on my deck. any idea on why it's doing that? (you state in this video that they will stay off when you change scenes, but this isn't my case)
