Texas Responds to the Border Crisis

The situation at the southern border of the United States has recently escalated. In March 2024, National Guard troops stationed in El Paso, Texas faced a challenging scenario when hundreds of migrants breached a checkpoint, despite efforts to secure the area with razor wire. The incident resulted in the arrest of nine individuals for assaulting the soldiers.

Now imagine adding onto that, the fact that these national guardsmen in Texas are at the center of a major Legal battle and we can see how this situation gets even more challenging. Because officials between the State of Texas and the Federal Government have come to head over disagreements on who has ultimate authority. A recent ruling by the Supreme Court regarding how Texas can conduct border policing has divided the American population. At the center of this disagreement has been Texas’s Operation Lone Star. What is Operation Lone Star? It’s a mobilization of thousands of national guard troops to the border. It’s a joint effort between the Texas Department of Public Safety which controls a large portion of the state law enforcement, and the Texas Military Department, which handles the Army and Air National Guard. Essentially the military’s reserve force. Part of the reason we’re seeing this happening in Texas is because they are naturally taking on the majority of these attempted crossings, with its part of the border stretching 1200 miles, the longest of any state

During hurricane Maria we were stuck without a working electrical grid in Puerto Rico for up to 2-3 months for most of the island and we didn’t had looting problems. People knew that if you tried some shit the island is not that big people talk and whoever you fucked over would find you and return the favor ten fold.

Got a degree in disaster management and political science coupled with a bunch of FEMA certs, but I only have experience in one catastrophe...

I saw your post about all the dislikes. Please ignore the radicals and trolls. Understand people are responding with emotions and not realistic policy. You're doing a really good job of being fair and balanced and that's not easy to do. Appreciate your coverage and videos. This stuff is important. Please keep them coming!

As the son of immigrants who came here legally, if you really want to stop the majority of illegal crossings then go after the businesses that hire them. If they can't find work then they have no reason to come but as long as long as we ignore that part of the problem then this will never end.

I watched this video after I saw your "rant" post on the reaction you got. I figured if it annoyed people outside your typical audience there was a good chance you must have done something right "Done something right" turned out to be a massive understatement. This is the best treatment of the current situation on our southern border that I have seen. Hands down. I have no idea how often you ought to actually undertake more projects like this because you obviously need to make a living, but however often (or rarely) you stick your neck out again and put forth this kind of effort, this will still stand as a simply fantastic video. So much so that I had to add a superthanks to my positive comment.

Anyone who dislikes this video, or who is inspired to comment negatively on (or dislike) anything else you have ever done because they saw this video is simply a person who would rather have their preconcieved notions of the world reinforced than actually learn something.

I've been watching your content semi-regulaly for 2 years and this video has vastly increased my respect for you. Keep up the good work Chris.

I learned more real information from this video than hours of listening to politicians pointing fingers, calling each other names and trying to create needless fear. Thank you. Your personal story is compelling. Also, thank you for your service thou son of a girl who needed asylum.

I'm a Native Texan who has had many friends and co-workers from 'south of the border'. Some came over illegally to work for a while and then would return to their home country with an increased quality of life thanks to the U.S dollar$. They told me how they swam here or hid on a train or in the back of a truck in a 'game' of cat an mouse with Border Patrol.
However, things have become much more intense as many of those people are fleeing cartel violence and they have no intention of returning to where they came from. I've recently spoken to people who are here illegally from Russia, Iran, China, African countries and, of course, plenty from south of the Texas border.
ALL of them told me that they plan to make the U.S. their new home. None of them said they wanted to go back to where they came from.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that this video is well researched and more people should watch it for a fair view of what is actually happening to my state.

Chris, you are FAR from being average good sir! Far far far from being remotely average...

Taking 10 months to research the material for this video, about a situation thats still unfolding in right now in real time, is FAR BETTER than anything the legacy media would ever bother with...

You are in a league of your own! And sincerely, Thank You.

What gets me is the government acts like they don’t have the resources to do XYZ, but when it’s comes to prosecuting Americans for crimes, then Uncle Sam finds all the time and resources.

Love how you try and keep your own bias out of these videos, always informational. Thanks so much for all the time effort and research

You don't understand how valuable you are, being one of the few reporting on things in an unbiased, respectful manner. It's almost impossible today. Even awesome channels like Ryan Macbeth, as much as I love the guy, falls for his own biases a bit

The border is too valuable in an election to be resolved by the current duopoly. See recent border bills not voted on as it couldn't be used in the upcoming election as a divisive issue. I've listened to old radio shows were the issues were being argued over, in the 1940s. It's an opinion.

I’ve been a subscriber for a while, this video just convinced me to join ur patreon. I’ve never seen a video explain this exceedingly complex issue in such a level, concise & coherent manner. I simply cannot understand how any individual can allow themselves to be corralled into any of the numerous corners of opposition, unable to view this issue for just how significant it truly is…without losing their ability to empathize with the humanity ANY solution would require. Your breakdown is the verbal bridge which links all corners…and while I’ve had countless “heated discussions” with more people than I care to remember, no REAL solutions are being implemented, anger & divisive rhetoric are being fomented, corruption and incompetency continue to be overlooked and all the while the tension continues to ratchet up, innocent men/women/children continue to suffer and die in an effort to seek safety, billions continue to be squandered…and, yeah. It’s fucking heartbreaking & mind numbingly infuriating. Amazing video. Thanks 🤘 🇺🇸

I really appreciate you not only trying to inform your viewers, but also admitting what your own experience doesn't cover. Keep up the good work man 👍

Don’t put soldiers in harms way without the ability to use lethal force. That’s not what they are trained for. That’s not what they should be used for.

Thank you for this video! As an European looking at the issues in US from afar, I finally understood this problem. I like that you presented every side with empathy - authorities, americans, mexicans, migrants, pro/anti imigration groups. The majority of the news articles vilifies someone.

US Citizens: Hey, we do all sorts of nation building and border security for foreign nations. Can we do that here?
US Govt: Lol, no
