The $5 Trillion Fidelity Family

Lock In 7% With Government Bonds:

Fidelity is by far one of the most recognizable and trusted financial platforms in the world. They manage roughly $4.9 trillion making them one of the largest asset managers in the world. The aspect that is most unique about Fidelity though is that the company is not only private, but it is largely owned by just one family, the founding family. The Johnson family currently controls 49% of the company meaning that just one family has near majority control over $4.9 trillion and America’s retirement at large. This control didn’t come overnight though. Fidelity was actually founded nearly 100 years ago in 1930 as a mutual fund during the Great Depression. They transitioned into being a money manager and slowly grew their AUM over the next several decades. This video explains the story of Fidelity and the Johnson family and how one family came to have near control over $4.9 trillion.

Owning the company doesn't mean you own the money in it, it's under management and we can choose where we tell them to put our 401k

The fact that Fidelity doesn't have a truly independent auditor is astonishing.

I have had Fidelity investments look after my shares, options and investments for over 30 years and i have always found them good. Perhaps a bit old fashion, but i tend to prefer some old fashion business sense when it comes to my investments.

Cyberopolis approach to blockchain technology is both innovative and practical. This project has the power to change the game.

His father was Samuel Jackson? Damn, how old is this guy if he’s still alive and had a child in the late 19th century

The types of leadership, and thus CEO, that build a small company into a large one are NOT the same as the leadership necessary to turn a large one into a massive dominating force. You may be right that she was in the wrong, but be careful about thinking that CEO skillset is the same across these massively different scales of business.

Hey Hari, You've touched on this issue before, but I'd be interested in hearing about how cash cows like Apple and Microsoft are pressured by shareholders during market downturns to buy into the stock market. Maybe from a Carl Icahn-type or Carl himself? I would think there would have been crushing pressure during the financial crisis and covid to buy in.

Cyberopolis seamless integration of innovative technology and user-centric design makes it a standout project. Bullish is an understatement.

Appreciate the video. It's making me think a lot about how all of these systems really work. Thanks. Cheers

Why use Silo when you can just buy a High Yield Mutual fund? So many CC shilled financial products that are questionable.

The fact that they wrote off their investment in Twitter/X and then decided to invest more in xAI makes me question their leadership

I think it's unfair to compare fidelity's bonds etf to voo, a more close competitor for voo would be fxiax with a .015% expense ratio

Hey Hari, tangible nouns aren't "singular". "Singular intent", "singular purpose", "singular reason". "Singular family" doesn't ring. It clanks. Love your commentaries.
