I bought my M1 MacBook Air in 2021 before starting graduate school and even till this day it still feels brand new!

These M1 Macs are still great. My work laptop is an M1 Max, and my personal is an M1 Air. I have zero intention on upgrading either machines. I'm hoping to get another 4-5 years out of my computers. Thanks for the updated review.

I just picked up one on FB marketplace for 275, super stoked about it. Runs perfect and has 94% battery health.

I have a m1 MacBook Air.... my speakers are fine I USED it for the past 2 years as a desktop.... Stressed the crap out of it and recently I got the new base model Mac mini to replace my M1 Air.... Fast forward to date I have both computers and glad I kept it....

I have a 2021 model with 16 GB of RAM, and I’ve been using it daily since I bought it. It has over 300 battery cycles, yet it still lasts around eight hours as long as I’m not pushing it too hard. Performance-wise, I haven’t noticed any slowdowns. I do reset my laptop occasionally, especially when I want it to feel like a brand-new Mac. There have been times when I almost bought a new one, but I always remind myself that I don’t really need a more powerful laptop since I’m not fully utilizing the one I have.

Im using a M1 8gb 13in Macbook Air. I love this computer. It just replaced a year or so ago, my 2012 Macbook Pro that i had upgraded to 16gb and a Solid State HD. The M1 Macbook Air, leaves that in the dust. And that 2012 MBP was no slouch with the HD and ram upgrades. But for what i do, i dont need anything more than the M1.

My dad has a 16gb M2 15in and its a little faster but for most tasks, the difference is hard to see.

I still use a M1 MBA 8/256 and it works absolutely fine. Even with a Logos library of several GB of literature it's very fast in searching through everything. And I still have over 80% battery capacity even with the original battery. Great machine. I'm planning to use it at least until the end of this year.

just got one for free, honestly it's perfect for me. I can do some photo editing in Lightroom and photoshop, watch YouTube, mirror my iPhone, use apple intelligence, etc. and it fits inside my camera bag with no issues.

Bingo...it's the price. I expect that Apple will support Mac OS on Apple Silicon for far longer than previous Intel versions. Millions of M1 devices have been sold since 2020 and it would be VERY BAD BUSINESS for Apple to make first-gen M-series Macs vintage machines too soon.

Ebay is honestly an amazing place to buy used M1 laptops, I bought one for the wife for about £330. Spec: 8GB/256SSD

The hardest thing to find is one that is in mint condition.

It's wild that Apple gave people the option of 7 core GPU and 8 core GPU. I know Apple does this to reduce the chip waste but it was definitely a thing they did in terms of saving costs. Anyways, there was little to no difference in getting either 7 or 8 core, it's interesting since it did cost more to get the 8 core GPU version, lol.

Anyways, I have the M1 Air, great laptop, still no slow downs. Great video!

If you use Ventura/Sonoma on m1 it's still gonna be good for like 4-5 years if you don't need system updates

You can get the OEM battery directly from Apple. I do not recommend buying an iFixit aftermarket battery. In fact he could've paid a little bit more than what he did for that battery and had Apple install it for him.

Regardless of whether the system can be updated or not, as long as I can browse the web and watch videos smoothly, I think there will be absolutely no problem using a computer for ten years.
