Actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after resigning from Congress just months before the Tamil Nadu polls. In her first press conference after joining the BJP, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that his leadership was needed to take the country in the right direction. Hours before her imminent induction into the BJP, the Congress dropped her as an AICC spokesperson. In her resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi, she had written that people who want to work for the Congress were being “suppressed” by “few elements seated at higher levels within the party.”
