US Election results: Glum mood in Democrat camp as Harris dodges addressing supporters

Kamala Harris's campaign co-chair told the Democratic nominee's election party that she will not speak, as Donald Trump's election victory draws near.
Meanwhile Donald Trump is addressing his supporters in Florida as the Republican stormed ahead of his presidential rival Kamala Harris in the US election.
Trump claimed he has won a “magnificent victory for the American people” in his speech at West Palm Beach as he was joined on the stage by his family including wife Melania and son Barron.
As of 6.50am GMT, the Republican candidate secured 247 out of the 270 electoral votes required to win the presidency, with Vice President Harris on 214 votes.
Trump claimed the first two of seven key battleground states with victory in North Carolina and Georgia. The BBC and Sky News later projected Trump to have won Pennsylvania.
Fox News projected that he would win the crucial state of Pennsylvania and the election as a whole.
