Shelby American continues to juice the F-150, with its latest take on the truck offering 785 hp

The Shelby F-150 is priced at US$139,995, and is limited to 800 units

Truck-loving gearheads with a penchant for horsepower have yet another option from the tuners at Shelby American. Using a Lariat trim F-150 SuperCrew 4×4 as its base, the Las Vegas company installs a supercharger the size of grand piano and cranks the wick to 785 horsepower and 685 lb-ft of torque.

That grunt is courtesy of a 5.0L V8 engine, the way nature and Henry Ford intended a pickup truck to be powered. All those ponies are part of a US$9,995 supercharger option which adds the blower, different intake, aluminum heat exchanger, and high-performance fuel injectors. That sum is layered on top of the US$130,000 base price of a Shelby F-150, a figure which thankfully includes $77,000 for the stock pickup truck itself. Hey—speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

Hove underneath the machine is a stout set of Fox-branded suspenders, appearing as Fox 2.5 shocks with internal bypasses and adjustable dual-speed controls. A 3.0-inch lift kit helps make room for the 35-inch all-terrain tires, which are mounted on 22-inch Shelby alloys. Traction bars out back help sort out handling when you punch it. Meanwhile, a Borla catback exhaust system announces your presence and assures the neighbours will hate you after about three weeks.

We assume there’s more detail paid to the build than there is to the Shelby website, where the likes of a dual intake hood and colour-keyed fender flares are listed under “interior features”; while floor mats and billet racing pedals are filed as “exterior features.”

Miscategorization notwithstanding, these trucks do certainly look the part, and are available in the same raft of paint hues offered on factory trucks. This writer will take his in Rapid Red Metallic with Satin White go-faster stripes, please.

If you’re wondering, a 2024 F-150 Raptor R starts at $114,285. An advantage of choosing the Shelby route is an agreement between the tuner and factory which permits retention of a warranty equalling three years or 36,000 miles. Those horsepower ratings listed above are on 93-octane fuel, and while promo shots show the 2024 Shelby F-150 hauling a burly-looking trailer, no mention is made if the truck loses any towing prowess thanks to the Fox suspension.

I absolutely love this truck. Those leather seats not only look great but look more cushioned and comfortable. I wonder, can they still be heated and cooled? My one concern or question is the bed cover. It looks great, of course, and looks like zero chance of water leakage b/c of its overlap design, but I wish there was a way to design that bedcover to also carry heavy weight on top with tie downs around the periphery, even to walk on, like the Diamondback HD perhaps but an overlap design somehow like this. But wow, what an awesome custom job.

Nice looking and amazingly powerful truck! But is it a good idea to put a carpet in the trunk? Sooner or later water will get in and make it smell disgusting or even dangerous due to the black mustiness.

just a little silly detail : this car MAY NOT have a compass (can't tell where north, south, ... etc. even with GPS on, or even with Apple CarPlay.). Very difficult to disable seat belt alarm. so if anyone (or any heavy object) is in the back, you must place the seat belt on, or else.
