I feel so hopeless about the state of the fashion industry today. All cheaply made from poor materials that are so close to becoming disposable. None of these look like they have some heft to it and the prices of these are way tooo unaffordable unless you live in a first world country. I feel bad at how our world took advantage of clothing.

I feel like every year the line between fast fashion quality and Party City Halloween Costume quality gets more and more blurred.

The weird obsession people have with looking rich is absurd, especially since most of the time they don't really know what they're talking about. I've seen so many fashion influencers wear the most poorly-tailored clothes and call them "quiet luxury" or "old money" just because they're minimalistic and in neutral colors.

There’s an influencer who does a lot of “quiet luxury” who pops up on instagram a lot for me. She styles a lot of things with white pants. The fabric on the pants is so thin you can see the pockets and the zipper. I cringe SO HARD. No. Just no.

The obsession with "looking expensive" is fashion victim mentality

Watching videos like this makes me glad I learned how to sew! A good tip for beginners: use fusible interfacing or line pieces to make them thicker and make them feel more finished. Another tip: if you want super straight stitches, adjust your stitch length to short, tension to high, and go slowly using a zipper foot up against a ruler or tape to guide your line

The scalloped pattern is a smart move for the manufacturer.

I just want you to know i went into zara the other day (for the first time ever) and thought of your vids. Its crazy how my opinion changed on the clothes i was looking at once i started checking things you’ve pointed out like stitching. I really wanted a cute pink satin blouse from them but there were loose threads everywhere and uneven stitching everywhere!!! You’ve really helped me choose better quality clothing

I know this is for woman but you have given me some very good advice. I look for these flaws in my wife’s clothes and mind too.

I'd rather just buy Uniqlo, honestly. I know a friend who often supervise the factory and they said QC is a headache because their standard is 100% precision and as customer I think it's a good thing

Guys just go to a thrift store and look carefully at each item in the store, I was able to find a big jacket made of real leather and practically new for 5 bucks. I found some nice sweaters and tshirts made of cotton, sometimes the clothes aren't even second hand. It's also very good for the environment and for the people too, most of the times the things you buy in these chain stores are made by children in China or Bangladesh.

Could you possibly do a video on some quality lounge sets? It’s so hard to find ones that won’t be ruined after one wash. Love your videos so much, thank you for helping us all❤

the plaquet caught my eye immediately. i feel like i and others like me who aren't super knowledgable about fashion but have seen some high-end pieces can tell the difference. it's so lazy and offensive to the consumer

The scalloping hides a lot of flaws. Check it for loose threads, uneven seams, and cheap fabrics. Ironically, cheap blouses and dresses can look very good in patterns and prints, because those also hide flaws very effectively. And sometimes a cheap clothing item just needs a little tailoring.

When the clothes/items are given to them for free or the company sponsors them, then they will recommend them to you.
In my opinion, a good review is done only IF you bought something.
1. Because you value the money that you spent on the item.
2. if someone sponsors you, how you can say their items are not well made?
3. Most of the influencers they got things for free, if they make a bad review then they won’t get anything from them again.
4. Most of the reviews are too “shallow”, especially the shorts/reels. For example, a mascara that they try for 1 minute and they say its the best! You need to perform a wear test, compare with similar items etc.
It takes time for a good review.

The first one looks like what a slavic grandma wears at home, when the weather starts getting chilly, but it's still too warm for a cardigan with sleeves

This is SO helpful Jennifer. Could you do Lilysilk? I see it everywhere and am so curious 😅

Yes their prices are crazy but It's also unfair to compare Maje to Mango or Zara when their prices are three to four times more expensive than the last two.
