1: You’re on an incline. Never trust yourself to throw a Pokéball on an incline unless you are 100% sure you won’t miss. For whatever reason the game has difficulty calculating your throw if obstacles such as trees, rocks, and uneven terrain are in your way. The hit boxes on those are way too large.
2: You weren’t aiming at its back. Even if they’re sleeping on their back or side you have to aim at them as if they were still standing (in this case where the tail is).
3: NEVER EVER throw a regular or feather ball while that close. The game calculates both distance and the intensity at which you throw. If you tap it’s a light toss, hold the button and you yeet it. In other words you willingly slam dunked this ball into the dirt. If you’re aiming for a sneak up close behind and are prepping for a throw so you know you’ll yeet, use a heavy ball every time.

Hope these tips help. It took me a while to figure out the game’s mechanics and quirks inside and out. But now I’ve had no issues catching or anything else since.

I just love how pokemon interact with the Environment and the Player. When you get to the room with the unowns, its so cute how they behave! I just sat there and they gathered around me making funny noises and the Player just smiled at them and they were happy. When i left the room the X and H unown actually followed me to the entrance and when i turned around and my character smiled at them again, they made another noise and left. As if they said goodbye. I love this game

When I find sleeping Pokémon in the game I just take their pictures because they’re so damn cute and I don’t have the heart to catch them while they’re snoozing

This is so true I have been playing it recently because I finally got and this is so true
