When Ali takes Rachel out, why doesn’t Sakineh make the effort to fix her up comb her hair, put on her shoes and socks, and ensure she looks nice? Look at the difference when Rachel is with Ali: she holds his hand, sits properly while eating, and doesn’t throw tantrums. It’s clear that attention and love bring out the best in her.

One thing I find upsetting is when people tease Rachel by announcing they’re leaving and then say she can’t go, while allowing Roya to go instead. That’s unnecessary and cruel. Why create a situation where she’s left crying?

While that was happening, Rachel was walking off unsupervised, vulnerable to danger. A little one like her could be taken in an instant. She craves connection and will go with anyone willing to give her attention.

It’s time for Rachel’s needs to be prioritized. Love, guidance, and protection are what she needs most right now to thrive.
