Kenya’s much anticipated presidential election recently concluded with the Supreme Court confirming President William Ruto’s victory. In the runup to this close contest, Kenya’s political discourse was for once focused on economic and policy concerns. As the new government takes up the reins of administration, trade will feature in the policy solutions to ongoing challenges like rising unemployment rates, Kenya’s large public sector debt, concerns around equitable taxation, and the residual effects of global shocks such as the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. In charting the direction of the country’s post-election economic policy, trade will be important in various ways: its volume, bridging Kenya’s trade deficit, and the country’s external relations.

This amazes 🤣🤣🤣🤣, no one is forced to choose. They come as they come if you have something to offer. Funny thing each country has something to offer if they leverage it, we have learned that in 🇰🇪. Don't be intimidated buy others big brothers. But make sense and follow through for you people.

Every country is looking out for its employer, the voter. Well those that actually function as republics. Financial partners aren't setting Kenyan foreign policy. We know who we are and want.
Edit: it's a struggle, but that's why you vote. But you keep working on yourself. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦 that won't change in this conflict 🇺🇦

The choice has been made. It is neither the US nor Europe.

Kenya doesn't have to choose between China and the united snakes. It only has to choose between growth or stagnation.
Kenya's debt to GDP ratio is about 70%, still manageable. All it needs to do is to enlarge its GDP. Without infrastructure, how do you grow your GDP?
China's portion of Kenya's total debt is approximately 20%. The rest are mainly from international organisations like the IMF and the World Bank. Kenya simply has to manage its debts and economy properly. Doesn't have to choose between China and the united snakes.
With economic growth, the Kenyan government will be able to repay its debts and improve its debt to GDP ratio. This requires planning and hardwork from the Kenyans. You can't have your cake and eat it.
You borrow money, you simply pay it back. Don't expect handouts. Don't give excuses.

As a Kenyan, I think the best choice is China. We experienced the most growth as a country after aligning with them, and on the ground, we've seen the highest quality of life leap with the Chinese as partners. America has been very extractive and they bring all this eljibitikiu stuff or the stick, which we don't need right now.
