#29 - t's all down the pan!!! Restoring an abandoned sailing yacht

It'a all down the pan! This week we're ripping out the heads and shower tray to see what horrors we find under there. We've got some exciting new toys to play with which will be featuring over the next few episodes as well!!

We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a Blue-water sailing yacht to take us around the world.

Well we've finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we're embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world.

Follow along with our journey and help us with any advice and tips you have along the way.

Jack is still giving a show ...! He is smart, friendly and very polite. You are very lucky to have him as a son. Hoping that everything will work out with this restoration. Go ahead.

Loved Captain Jack and the tours especially the in depth explanations. Always good information for a landlubber. Sailing is dry in the Big Sky Country.

Jack did a great job as usual explaining the new equipment, you all are working so hard and it’s great to see your team work.
It will be amazing when the work is complete and you will be sailing ⛵️⛵️👍😘

Some serious determination required to get all that out, well done! Glad it looks good underneath too. It’s starting to look as though this beastie of a boat has a good few more decades of life left in her yet 😁👍🏻 so cheers to that! 🍻😀⛵️

Always a pleasure to see all the family at work.
Great job... although it could have been easier if you had removed the door.
Keep up the good work.

My father said the true test of a marriage is wall papering a bathroom together. For some reason, seeing you two squeezing into the head tells me you have a solid relationship! 😜

Excellent job Jack! You are so articulate in your speech, great inflection and tone. You did such a good job explaining things and now I understand. Thank you. Melissa amazing job ripping out the head...not and easy job. Good call on lengthening the forward birth. I’d probably make the forward starboard locker shelves perhaps accessible from the birth, make oval cutouts ..this way it’s a place to even place a cup. Maybe add wall electric out let’s to plug in phones and such. I find shelves to be more useful then hanging lockers. Your all a great team! You too Andy 😀

3:50 if there is one cramped space on a boat it's the head. Congrats on the two of you squeezing in there together.
