接合後の直径精度は良くないが、使っている3Dプリンターの精度も緩いので問題なく使える。
高級な精度高い3Dプリンターだとひっかかると思う。
・PLAもABSも接合できるようにした
・収納時、加熱用フィラメントを保護できるようにした
・所定の位置でなければスイッチを押しても通電しない安全策を施した
・フィラメントをセットしなければ通電発熱しないよう安全策を施した
・半田づけ作業を不要にした
・複雑な組み立てや接着作業を不要にした
・これらをマイコンやモータを使わずに機能するように工夫した
・耐熱の筒をテープで作るなどの職人技的なものを不要にした
・ヒーターの予熱など不要とし、短時間で接合できるようにした
・身近な材料と3Dプリントで壊れてもすぐに作れるようにした

Simple, cheap to make, easy to use. I like it. It is reminiscent of the old style reel to reel tape splicers.

I've been collecting used "disposable vape" from friends to harvest the lipo, now I know what to do with the coils!

I just made one. Rewired the microswitch between the PSU and the heating element with soldered wires. Works great if the two pieces of filament are of the same material and same diameter, otherwise one end melts but the other only softens making it very difficult to weld together. I connected this to my variable voltage PSU, set to 4.5v max 3A. Draws about 2A with about 40mm of nichrome before being coiled.

👍good idea. I never join filament before but did join industry round belt. It works with 2side spring loaded grip while inserting a flat heater element in between. Pulled out the heater the spring pushes the 2 belt together and instantly fused 1 shot.
I see we could use just 1 short #28 Nichrome wire to pull thru from the other side while 1 or 2 spring pushes the 2 filament togther from left & right.
