" So China might be on the back-foot, but it's still not out of the game. And India is off to a good start, but there's still a long way to go."

Bharat missed the chance to become an industrialized nation when everyone else did it in the 1970s, missed the bus again in the 1990s, and only now has become an industrial power. Time to aggressively grab the chance this time around, and make everything in Bharat. With pharmaceuticals, mobile phones and cars being the the hot spots, it is time to dive into renewable and nuclear energy and build planes and ships as well. Become capable of manufacturing advanced hi tech goods like Nihon does.

India is not just Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamilnadu! The central government and many of the state governments are doing nothing in developing / strengthening other parts of the country.

To be honest, most of the manufacturing companies are moving towards Thailand, Indonesia and some other south east Asian countries. India should wake up fast and compete to attract more companies

I feel the title is provocative...India being a country as big as china..and likely to be bigger soon...I feel we don't have to feel overly proud for going forward...We are just trying to catch up.from far behind....But the post was informative..and interesting...

Any development takes atleast a decade or two to achieve the desired results esp. when you are starting from scratch.

I am cheering for India, China, and BRICS. However, India must follow China in the process of social inclusion. There is no great country with most of its population living in poverty.

No need to challenge, China already gave up manufacturing sectors and now move more towards high-end products. India you can have it.

I wish you all the success, Palki. I mean somebody has to take the Chinis on, right? Who better to do that than the great state of India.

India can step up into manufacturing from agriculture as China has moved up the value chain to design, technology (IP) and branded products.
