I'm honestly not sure why I never looked in to this website before. They have a ton of bikes for really good prices!

I grew up mountain biking as a kid. When I got in my 30's and needed a hobby, I remembered how much I loved riding trails so I wanted to see if I would still enjoy it. I went to BikesDirect and got a Motobecane hardtail for $699. I paid to have it assembled though I probably should've just done it myself. It got me into riding and fell back in love with riding. It was a 30lb brick of a bike but the XT components were great to start. I upgraded the wheels to Stan's. About a year later, I decided to upgrade and ended up buying each part of a bike, frame and all and built it myself. Forced me to understand bikes and how to service them. I turned my Motobecane into a wide tire road bike and then I found gravel. Ended up building a Niner Air9 into a gravel rig... and the obsession began.

The real benefit of BikesDirect is that it's a FAR better option than box stores like Walmart and what-not. These are true bike components and can be serviced at a bike shop easily.

Bikesdirect is really the one who started direct to consumer. I've been buying bikes from BD for years. It's a wonder why I don't see more of them on the roads and trails. The $1499 carbon 29+ hardtail can't be beat and the titanium 29+ hardtail looks spectacular. There is also an aluminum/carbon gravel/adventure bike with Ritchey Beacon flared bar, GRX600 2x11, hydraulic discs, and a remote dropper seatpost for $1799. I was going to buy a Motobecane full suspension MTB for around $2000 but instead got an Intense 951 XC for $1799 at Costco online. Carbon, Fox suspension, dropper, four piston discs, $1799.

I've purchased 2 road bikes for $3200 each and 1 MTB which I spent about $3500 for, very satisfied with the bikes and components. I've upgraded the MTB, with a Transfer Dropper post and a new wheelset with industry-nine Hydra Hubs. The bike went from a great to an outstanding purchase.

Purchased a Motobecane Ti fatty several year ago, no regrets. A complete Ti bike for less than a frame only from anywhere else.

My experience with them is very good and I certainly recommend them after ordering 2 bikes from them. I never had to call their customer service since all went smoothly on the order although shipping takes a while. I'm a hardtail mtber & ride close to everyday weather permitting. I rode my friends Motobecane Fantom 2.5 with a 3X8 for about a year before I had to give it back. I bought the same bike for $399 in 2020 & have been riding it for 4 years. I see they run $599 now but have a dropper post which I don't have. It is a great bike and for what you get for the money and it is my go-to-bike. I liked it so much I bought a $299 Motobecane back in 2022 for when the kids visit. I'm considering a carbon fiber from them but to be honest with the bike I have performing so well it is hard to justify the $$$. Tip of the day ... if you ride a lot remember to check that chain for wear!

BD seem to have decent pricing on gravel wheelset as well. Complete DT Swiss G540s wheelset of different flavors with Maxxis Ramblers and rotors included for $299. And yes, their website could use a facelift. It looks like something built with Windows 95 - circa 56kpbs Dial-Up Internet. TY, ty for the vid!

I purchased the motobecane titanium/ultegra. great ride. I got the motobecane full suspension with xt/ dt swiss. so so sweet. I got the single speed uno. it's fine. I got the adult bmx...meh. it's just fine also. all from bikes direct. great to work with. flawless. I also have a Gunnar/Campi steel. couple treks. carbon xtc Giant. some old Schwinn. at the moment the Titanium has 45's with gravel tread. the Giant has dt swiss with tubes and liners inside book worms great set up. but heavy. not like the full suspension. turn this off go ride. yes I like Bikes Direct. no affiliation.

Two years ago, I bought a Motobecane Gravity gravel bike. It came with shimano Claris drivetrain complete with a free kick stand lol. I paid $700. I was a complete newbie to the bike world and didn’t understand components and levels of value. I put a set of tubeless hunt wheels and some salsa handlebars on it . I finished Gravel Worlds 150 mile with that bike. It got the job done. I bought a Lauf after that race . Weight matters, and the Lauf suspension is awesome. I still ride the Motobecane around town.

I’m in the market for a mountain bike now. What mountain bike would you suggest for The Dakota Five O race? Hard tail or full suspension ? Thanks!

I tried to buy a bike from them about a year ago, but couldn't reach anyone there. 6 months later, they flooded my YouTube adds with their advertising. I took the opportunity to tell them exactly where to place their products and non functional staff.

They're just ok. You get what you pay for. They have a good customer support though.
