The First iPhone vs The First Android!

Both iOS and the Android operating system are used by billions of people every day. But back at the beginning, which was best? iPhone vs Android.

The original iPhone released in 2007 was hailed as revolutionary in a world where BlackBerry, Palm, and Microsoft Windows Phone reigned king. Google was working on a competitor to these platforms with the Android team they purchased in 2005. After the iPhone unveiling, Google changed course and the T-Mobile HTC Dream was launched in 2008. How did the two compare and which one was better? iPhone vs Android.

When he said, “I love them both for their own strengths”. I immediately subscribed.

There still isn’t consistent design in Google apps.

Take Dark Mode; there are apps that STILL do not have dark mode, and those that do have the setting to enable/disable it in different places!

I still missed the Symbian OS. I still have my old Nokia E 71, and it is still a pretty quick device.

Interesting. Makes me still glad I never bothered with ios except for pinch to zoom. I respect that.

I still remember pulling out my first iPhone in clubs in Germany when it wasn’t even released here yet, imported it. Girls were swarming around me to look at it and try it out lol. Good times.

I got my first android in 2012, it was the budget HTC One V with a black aluminum body, glass display and "Beats Audio™ lol." It had the same chin design at the bottom of the phone as the T-Mobile g1.

I was forced to upgrade from the LG g4 to the g8 this summer when it decided to finally fall victim to the dreaded bootloop. Comparing each phone to the last is a night and day difference in terms of performance.

Great video, thanks for sharing!

Only now in IOS 14 is apple implementing things like an app tray, widgets and default apps. Android had them from day one.

One ofthe best example of agile development. Do the most important things first, and add working increments continuously

I remember on the original iPhone and 3G(up until MMS was launched) that if you received a picture, it took you to a link to view it.

I never understand Apple/Android fanboys or haters.
Sure they both have their differences, pros and cons, but at the end of the day

Phone is phone.

Finally I hear someone address specifically why I didnt get Gen 1 iphone. No MMS, no video. I travelled for work. My phone wasn't used for work much, but keeping in touch with home and the occasional work meant I wasnt going to scrap features I had on t9 flip phones. Loosing the ability to send pictures, videos & small files via MMS on a phone advertised as a media phone seemed like unnecessary complications and a con.

Apple could have grabbed me then, the Iphone made it to my shortlist. Instead I got an HTC Dash 3G MAPL100. Now I run dual LG V20. Only issue I'm having is finding decent replacement batteries.

This was a fun watch. I was a Windows Mobile guy to begin with, because I could get the phones through work, and even used it with GoToMyPC in the late 00's to remote into servers to reset passwords on the weekend. I got my first Android phone in 2010, the Motorola DROID, and despite the issues that device had, it was revelatory at the time, and was a big upgrade from WinMo. I stayed with Android for a while, and then we got our first iPhones at work in 2011, and it wasn't long before I went full iPhone for a few years. I bought a DROID RAZR when it was new, but the battery life was awful, and it just didn't keep pace. But I'm giving serious consideration to going back to an Android phone for personal use, due to the customization and flexibility. With the deprecation of iTunes, and the realization that most of those services are moving to the cloud anyway, a guy like me who likes to have his entire music collection available w/o having to stream or use data means it's better for me to have a phone with expandable memory anyway.

My first private phone was the Alcatel One Touch Club +, the next Siemens C25 (the difference in size was huge), then there were a dozen other models of which I remember the most Sony CMD-J70 with a knob on the side, which brilliantly facilitated navigation, the problem was only that it was more convenient for leftovers, but it was great anyway. And this green display - MEGA!
I also remember the Ericssons T10, T28s and K750i very well, and the entire BlackBerry collection - from BB Quark to Bold 9790 (including the touch screen draining the battery so much that it fell after 5-6 hours, which was impossible to pass), with the longest time I had BB Bold 9000 and Curve 8900.
Those were the days ... a tear in the eye turns.

It’s crazy that my first ever smartphone is iPhone 3g and I’m currently using iPhone 11. I have used Samsung for years and other phones for years but I always come back to iPhone.

I had a Nexus One (with the OLED panel, and still having the amazing RGB trackball) and loved it. I think I still have it somewhere. Some rich classmates in college had iPhone 4, and while I liked the look and feel of the Apple device, I never wanted one instead of my Android device. Oh, and I really liked using the trackball. And the RGB notification light that I could see from any angle was brilliant as well. They just don't make 'em like they used to.
