Emotional Christmas Parade - Puberty and Autism

Abbie's first Christmas parade was emotional for us and sensory overload for her. She had a great time until things started to get loud. It's hard to see her be so moody when she was such a happy little girl before puberty and autism mixed. We are thinking about trying headphones now that she is showing interest.

I have 2 of these homemade, swirl paint ornaments that I made for gifts several years for gifts! Mine are multicolored. My now late mom taught me how to make them with acrylic paint! I have 2 girl Elf on the Shelf dolls!

Abbie I think is like “this is nuts, but hey there’s candy involved so I’ll stick it off” I’m proud of her with all those noise and new stuff. Especially if that’s a new experience other then Disney parade. I never did enjoy the noise that a parade put off. I am very sensitive to noises that the sirens and cannons, I would have been so sensory overloaded. She did way better than I would have done ❤️❤️💯

Abbie did so good at the parade and keeping the headphones on her head. Then she got the vacuum all by herself and cleaned up the mess she made on accident. She is becoming so much more independent. I love your family and the way y'all get together and take care of each other. I like colored lights.

I get teared up too when my son is happy, nothing else matters just the smiles and the expressions on his face tells me all a good time ❤❤❤ ps we have colored lights 🎄

Abbie you are so great! You rocked it at the parade, wearing the headphones and vacuuming! I love all the things you are doing! Mail time is always so fun. As for lights, I mix them; my tree has both white and coloured lights!😍🎄🍭❄☃️🎶

I want to say with all respect as a father, your a great dad and i feel sad when you are emotional. You may not have a "normal" daughter but you understand a daughter is his baby girl forever. We never grow out of your daughters origionality. You got one great blessing. Daddys little girl you have. You were blessed.

Thank you for sharing when you get emotional Asa; I think it’s important to acknowledge everyone has a variety of emotions and they are all normal!

I know this video is from last year but it really touched my heart that you guys went to Gatlinburg for Christmas. I love it there and more importantly so did my dad. He passed away 4 years ago and I miss him every single day. So so glad y'all got to go. And Ab did amazing with all the noise but it's all because her loving parents were there to help her through it. ❤

Omg y'all had me crying at the parade.... I get super emotional when someone else does. But seeing her hold on to her daddy was so sweet and mom helping her get candy had me teary eyed. The ending had me laughing lol!

I didn't watch this when it first came out. I have had a hell of a week. I'm so glad that you bring us for the things. I'm pretty house bound.. so it's almost like getting to celebrate the holiday.

My 4 year old daughter has a genetic disorder called Dup15q syndrome and autism is a huge part of it. Watching your family has touched my heart so much and helped me think of the future with my sweet girl, and in turn helped me find more joy in our special little moments today. Our Christmas parade was yesterday and my daughter stayed with Grandma while I took my three boys by myself, we weren't sure how she would react to the sirens quite yet. Didn't want to have a serious meltdown on our hands and be stuck there without a quiet place to retreat to, but maybe next time! I'm so glad you got to see your sweet girl happy!

I loved seeing Abbie participating in the parade fun even though she had nervous moments throughout... way to overcome in the way of Christmassy FUN!💖 As for the tree lights, we compromise in our home and always have an equal mix of colour and clear lights which never disappoints.
