Well that's a surprise. Good on them! I haven't had to access NTFS from Linux in many years, but it's good to see the power of open source at work. XD

Me : Converts My Game Library to ext4 (which took hell)

8 days later : Linus tarvalds implements proper NTFS support into the Linux kernel

This is HUGE, Chris! Thanks for that, didn't know. A lot of my stuff is on NTFS drives for compatibility. And it seems kernels 5.13+ started having issues with that (unconfirmed, but presumed). If 5.15 introduces such a leap of support, I'll just stay on my old kernel until this rolls out in full. Very good news!

Yahoo, Dualboot games with wine/proton/dxvk finally will get a more proper driver compatibility.
Start playing on Windows, then continue playing on Linux, on the exact same place, imagine that...but with less bugs and a bunch of improvements on NTFS* performance.
I know, this is an extreme use case, but i'm going to test that.

Paragon is nice, especially for running various drives in alternate OSes.

Heck yeah, this is pretty nice. Would be nice to share drives for games. Currently running 9tb of SSD on my rig due to dual boot.

Nice addition, especially to people coming from Windows to Linux and have their drives loaded into NTFS.

It'd be amazing if this new drivers actually lets us mount NTFS Steam drives for Linux.

I didn't know it was that much of a problem. I've been accessing NTFS everyday for years with no problem

I hope the performance picks up. The FUSE implementation is brutal on the CPU of lower-end hardware.

Paragon software makes great ntfs drivers for Mac. I've used them since snow leopard.
Learning they did this is awesome

Linux: Supported NTFS, now will support it even better.
Windows: EXT4 support? Ha.

nice video Chris, I'm also excited for this release.

I hope! This means games like Black Ops 3, or even Roblox will be able to function on my ntfs drives without reinstalling everything twice on other drives.

so much for ntfs on linux then. I trust this author's advise as i have not been able to use ntfs on linux indeed. It worked not for long even for connecting my camera to the linux os through an usb to camera wire,

I run windows in KVM with GPU Passthrough and the VM has a physical SSD and HDD and I sometimes have them mounted in Linux to transfer files when the vm is off so this will make things easier for sure

this i a really good feature for me bcoz i dual boot and i have to access my ntfs drives all the time and it just a mess to do that. but if this fixes all that, that would be pretty rad

Will this allow us to create a Linux install with NTFS as the primary partition file system?

Has Microsoft been interested in providing an NTFS driver since the launch of wsl? With so much effort and improvement for wsl2, I was expecting that a more robust and performant exchange between Windows and Linux was key to Microsoft. Or doesn't the VM layer make that necessary?

I wonder if Paragon will also open up their EXTx filesystem drivers for windows, then.
