Vice-President Kamala Harris interviewed potential contenders to be her running mate on Sunday, ahead of a battleground tour next week.

Among those who travelled to Washington, DC, to meet Harris were Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Mark Kelly and Governor Tim Walz.

A decision is required before the Democratic National Convention, which starts on 19 August in Chicago.

Tim Walz would be a fantastic pick. He's helped get Minnesota some great policies with a thin Dem majority. Universal school lunches, legal marijuana, 4 weeks of paid sick leave, etc. These are popular policies nationally, and could very much help the Harris campaign.

Totally disagree, this is an election like no other. I think people very much care about the VP choice. Walz is the best choice, he is the most well-rounded. His background includes being a teacher, he was in the military, he grew up in rural America And he’s very well liked. He also will not take away a Senate spot. In my opinion, he’s the best choice.

Walz is the progressive pick endorsed by unions and young people, Shaperio is the centrist pick with high popularity in Pen but controversy attached to his name, Kelly's recognizable and moderate but unions don't like him one bit. All three are decent picks.
