Good health is a type of wealth no one seems to appreciate until you really don't have it.

$150K for “fun things” and “drinking.” Oof. She is definitely 20.

As someone that has earned this kind of money previously, I can tell you that if you ain’t happy without the money then you ain’t gunna be happy with it…. It makes being annoyed and tired from working a little easier and the tax is a bitch too.

I feel like more money equals more, more, more. We are never satisfied. I earn a decent amount per year, probably average, but I'm happy with what I got. I've learned that life is about the simple pleasures, and being grateful for your own health and family's wellbeing. I do what I can with what I got, and it's enough for me. Everyone is different, as some people want a ton of money but I feel like if we dig deep into the psychology of those people, it goes deeper into insecurities, trying to prove somebody or yourself something, wanting power etc. It's just a cycle that never ends until you actually practice gratitude.

You can be happy with no money. Time is your most valuable asset. Try to be happy without time.

According to these guys 90% of the people in the world are supposed to be unhappy, so I must say that true happiness is letting go of your desires, reminding yourself that this life is finite, being happy and grateful for everything you have.

the problem is that a large income always comes with little time to enjoy it.

And THIS is why Americans suffer more depression and addiction than other developed countries. We need a big house just to be happy.

Enough that you can pay for what you want without being stressed out about paying for what you need. Question is do you really need as much as what you think, and is what you want really what you want or what you think you should want. I didn't grow up with nothing but there were times when nothing was disturbingly in sight and that made me incredibly disciplined with money, to a fault, many have said. But it made me realize that I don't need a bunch of garbage or a big box to fit all the garbage to be happy, I just need good company, good health, and peace of mind.

"Drinking" would have def been my response in my early 20s 😂

I'm 35 now and have been sober for almost 4 years. I've never been happier!

I don't care about a big house or a nice car or tons of traveling. I just want to have enough money to see some professionals so that I can finally get all my mental bullcrap figured out and fixed. Maybe then I'll be happy. Maybe then I'll finally start to really and truly live my life instead of simply existing in it.

If you're happy with a small income, then good for you, but that sure as hell isn't the case for me.

Anyone who thinks that everybody has the potential to be happy with a small income is bullshitting and I stand by that.

This is so sad they think they need all that money to buy all that crap our culture tells them will make them happy. I’m 58. Trust me, happiness is not a dollar amount. Security, safety, a simple roof over your head, those are dollar amounts and not huge ones. Learn who you are and build relationships with people who energize you to be around. Follow your curiosity. Respect your body. Explore nature. A sense of humor will save you especially in dark times. Stop judging yourself and learn self compassion and self respect. This is different from self-indulgence. The more compassionate you are with yourself the more compassion you'll naturally feel toward others. Compassion is the true currency of happiness and connection. Read Brene Brown and Joseph Campbell. Please, don’t make money more important than your heart.
