Roald Dahl's stories for adults are brilliant. Not only are they twisted and quirky, they are also an insight into the human psyche, you can't ever forget them

HAHAHAHA, oh my goodness I am dying right now. First off, the socks are on another note I have the SAME issue with my friends. No one wants to buy me books, even though that is all I want. And I have received THREE of those personal library kits. It is hilarious to me. I will not be surprised if I get another one this year...Wonderful haul, hope you enjoy all your new books!!

What a great selection of books. I want to read them all. Family Lexicon sounds like a starting point for me, however all the French books sound incredible as well!

A Perfect Mother, The Endless Summer and Prodigal are only going on my TBR, they all have that sense of melancholy that I’m drawn towards, especially, I think, as the seasons change. 🍁❄️

Happy belated Birthday, friend. You are hanging around the right sort of people if you are getting gifted trips to Berlin (packaged with books none the less) - Lovely variety as always! Thanks for reminding me I have a bunch of Isherwood that I need to work through :)

So many lovely books, as always😍 Ohhhh I’ve had my eye on those types of Roald Dahl books for a while! I’m so intrigued by them - I’ve only read his children’s books, so far, which I adore. There’s something so cool about them revolving around a certain theme, as well. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them!

I am so glad you got your hands on This Mournable Body! That is a great gift. I am so happy to see A Winter's Promise in your haul! I love Europa and am so excited to read this one. When I got it in the mail I just smiled. I think it sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I wish Sarah Moss was published over here - I think I would love her. The Incendiaries is one of my favorite reads of the year - I cannot wait to hear what you think about. Nothomb's book is also fantastic. You have a lot of great books sir!

So many incredible books! I'm going to have to be very selective about adding these to my TBR (oh budgeting...) Prodigal is intriguing, and all of the French books are a must. Strike your Heart sounds like what I need right now. Where do you look to find out about new books? I go to individual publishers websites and find some good ones there, but the compiled lists can be a bear to flip through. Thanks Eric! I hope your holiday to Berlin arrives soon!

I love stargazing! It’s so hard to do when you live in a city. I’ll add Searching for Stars on.. You need to go to La Palma, in the Canary Islands! It has one of the best night sky in our side of the world. There’re several observatories as well in the island.

Have you read The End of Night? I highly recommend it, a beautiful book about looking for dark skies in our era of artificial light.

Happy belated birthday btw!

Transcription sounds wonderful, I’m very excited for it to come or over here.
I also didn’t know Roald Dahl wrote adult fiction until recently too so look forward to getting to them. I also was a big fan of James and the Giant Peach!
I’ve only read the first book in the trilogy of Pullman, and was advised to finish the other two before starting back on The Book of Dust.
I started reading Flights recently too and just couldn’t get into it! I’m completely missing what everyone raves about 😂

Public amazon wishlist for birthdays! Although there is really good chance that nobody will ever check it. As in my case :( great haul.

I´ve not read much of Roald Dahl´s adult fiction, only a very small anthology with a mixture of fairy tale retellings and stories where characters go against the norm. There was a lot of humor in it, which I enjoyed. My favorite one was Mr. Botibol (the descriptions were very vivid) and another one with a man and an umbrella. I hope you find them in one of the books and enjoy them as well
