Listening to this song makes me a bit sad when I realize that because we all still go at one another's throats in this country that we haven't learned a damn thing. Not a damn thing. We're heading back this way possibly and to think it will be a bloodless war is being very naive. This war really hasn't ended only the dynamics of who are the real enemies of our nation has. Both the names Democrats and Republicans and their meanings have been flipped in their own ways. The federal government, in it's own name, took the state's sovereignty and left those two in the dust now. It has become it's own dictatorial power using puppets from either side for mere show.

This is a from a union perspective. Yes it was sung by confederates sometimes but it is still a union song
