You should compare this original KLON with the J. Rockett Golden Archer.
J. Rockett was actually contracted by the designer of the KLON (Bill Finnegan) to produce and build the KLON Re-Issue.
As such, with Bill Finnegan's blessings the Archer is an exact duplicate of the original KLON circuit that has been manufactured using modern surface mount components.
I've been using a Gold Archer now for about a year and am very, very pleased with its performance.

If you’re looking for a really great clone, in a mini pedal format, I would recommend highly the Decibelics Golden Horse. It’s a $200 pedal, but it’s a real boutique pedal, made by a single guy in Spain. Very high end quality and to me, perfect replica of the Klon. Each pedal is calibrated to match his own Klon

Bill also made the Klon KTR as a sort of re-issue of his original Klon. Much more obtainable of a price and sounds great too!

To me, the Klon sounds like a cross between a Rangemaster and a Tone Bender. I’ve never played one myself but that’s how I hear it.
