I carry the ICON bit set in my EDC backpack. A week after I bought it, my coworker needed help hanging a ceiling fan. His drill was a 6V cheapie, and died. So I used my ICON ratchet and elbow grease, and got the fan installed. He gave me $50. The ICON cost me $38 on sale. Literally paid for itself the first time I used it. 👍

Very cool. For pocket carry, I like the 711L lollipop.

I usually carry a .30 caliber gun cleaning brush in my sheath, the kind that screw into a rod. It is easy to grind the threaded portion to fit into the Leatherman bit exchanger. The size seems to work best for general field cleaning, but also is good for cleaning up threads on old bolts.

The non ratcheting version is outfitted for bikes which rarely need slotted and imperial hex. For me, I love the set up on the smaller set. But, I can see how the ratcheting version may work well for more general use. Thanks for the comparison.

Lol I don't know what it was about that video but I think that screwdriver video was my most re-watched video of the year. I bought so many products and found so many other creators because of that video. You really sent me down a rabbit hole man, geat videos!

@ 3:30, the hole in the prying tool you are referring tool, has the cutouts for 3 different nut sizes, or those sizes that can accommodate both metric and SAE sizes (i.e. 1/2 & 13mm, etc).

I have been eyeing a set of fixit sticks for a while, however I think I will go with the icon set as soon as I can find it in stock.

I like all the kits, I understand that the non-ratcheting Fix-It-Sticks was for firearm maintenance. I don't know that industry but think it would be nice if all the Torx bits were also security bits. I don't think that would compromise the tools any but would make it great for electronics.

I think the hole on the end of the ratchet set is to hold one of torque limiter bits that fix it sticks makes.

We have a similar low end kit & use magnets to keep the extras in, it also make it shallow enough thus can be easily taken out without using a pair of pliers. Mod a multitool sheath to acommondate & easy carry in the field. Great compatison matey. Cowabunga.!

Nice comparison of the two kits. There's a clear size difference, and while having the ratcheting driver sounds nice in theory, as I watch a few of the many different EDC tools videos, I'm left wondering: when do I really _want_ a ratcheting driver, and when is that not enough benefit for the weight and strength trade-offs it requires.

For a kit this size, what kinds of things do I _want_ the ratcheting driver for, over the fixed driver? What are the kinds of tasks where it goes from "nice to have" to "really useful"?

I like it!
Esp. the pry bar/wrench feature.

Nice set up. Looks to be more of a great kit for a compact tool bag

This is a very interesting set up. Sabre cut has some micro 1/4 ratchets I've been looking at.

Does the spring loaded chuck accept any standard 1/4" impact bit?

For the adapter you pulled from the holder with the pliers, did you try using the magnet on the extender instead? I wonder if it's strong enough to pull that out once the adapter has engaged with the holder.

Seems like this would pair really well with Wiha double-ended bits.

Did you mean to say "tested to 20ftlbs or 20inlbs"? Well done. Like the ratcheting kit.
