Why Thundercats Failed

Set on the planet third earth. The cats live in the kingdom of thundera led by Claudus with lion-o being his heir. One night the kingdom is attacked by the lizard army led by mumm-ra. Utilising different forms of technology that the cats have looked past for so many years. Claudus is then killed by mumm-ra and the rest of the cats are enslaved while lion-o and a small group survive to seek out the book of omens said to have the knowledge needed to defeat Mumm-Ra. The thundercats realise that they need to unite the other species that remain on the planet and find the three stones of power before mumm-ra does, giving him the power to become the most powerful thing in the universe. Its initial premise kind of reminded me of Dune a bit just with the way both were kind of set up and introduced which was a cool call back for me.

When I was first introduced to this show as a kid I didn't have any of the preexisting nostalgia a lot of other fans had for the series so it was all very fresh and a brand new experience for me. I did take a look back into the older series a while after but I couldn't really get the same kind of hype for it. I feel like the 90s show hasn't aged particularly well and was something you just had to have grown up with. One of the main writers behind the newer series said that the older show felt more like a saturday morning animated series whereas the 2011 one feels more like a movie, with more of an arc and investment into the story and characters which i have to agree with. Around the 2010 era of cartoons it really felt like shows were far more imaginative and intuitive with the stories they were trying to tell and this show was no exception. Shows like chowder, flapjack, adventure time and ben 10 were all fairly big parts of what i watched in my childhood and thundercats fit really well alongside them.

So basically, LEGO CHIMA killed THUNDERCATS 2011

I like Legends Of Chima, even though some elements of it are cringe asf now that I've grown up.

Honestly it’s a shame that Thundercat got canceled and I think they’ve never got to finished the show but I could be wrong.🐱

Underrated to say the least. I don't deny it had flaws but shows with more flaws have been more successful, so it was definitely done dirty.

The problem with Chima is that it came out right wrong time. Right off the cusp of Ninjago popularity as Ninjago was a massive success and Cartoon network tried to replace it but it ended up failing because fans wanted Ninjago not chima

Sad how a cool show featuring a young red hair, blue wearing lion-based character gets replaced by an "ok" young red hair, blue wearing lion character.

Wish they could've at least finish off the cliff hanger...

But one thing I like about the 2011 version is the fact they didn't call them "mutants". (which I always thought as weird.)

I loved the 2011, reboot of ThunderCats.
I decided to get the Blueray w the 2 seasons to save in my collection, it was a really shame that WB couldn’t give a third and final season or at least make a special long episode to give an ending

Roar probably just isn’t for you. Kids could’ve gotten still in to it despite it not being serious.
