I went from the iPhone 12 Mini to the iPhone 14 Pro and the difference is night and day! From the battery life (I had to bring an external battery with me everywhere / Had to charge the Mini 2-4x’s a day) to the cameras, the 14 Pro is SO much better! Definitely worth the upgrade for me since I take a lot of photos and videos.

I think the 13 pro takes better videos than the 14 pro, I know it’s kinda an unpopular opinion but checking the comparison they made on the moment channel it’s clear that there’s something wrong with the 14. The sharpening and contrast is too much, that’s not a progress to my eyes. Main reason why I decided to not upgrade. Oh and if you check the comment section of the video I’m talking about you’ll see that I’m not the only one who noticed that😢

I waited to upgrade my phone, from 8 plus to 14 pro max (I can't do small phones any more) and it's crazy the difference. It's actually made me want to be more creative. Soooo worth the wait! 👌🏻

It’s very timely that you’ve posted this and it’s great to have insight from someone who does filming for a living.

I’ve just upgraded from an SE (original vintage) to a 14 Pro Max (I take great care of stuff and make it last).
The change was significantly driven by the video capabilities for use on a ski trip next week. I suspect it’ll effectively replace my GoPro for some stuff - though I trust the GoPro’s unbreakabity more.
For other readers, I reckon Matti’s right about the size of the Max - it’s a bit huge & I poss should have gone for just the Pro but I have it now and will get used to it for the next 7 years 😂

I actually compared my iphone 11 pro max camera with my friend's 14 pro max and didn't notice any notable differences.

Upgraded from the 12 to 14 Pro a few months ago and have no regrets! I still shot stills on my Sony a7ii but am loving the 14 Pro for video. I am 100% with you on the Always On feature. Lasted about a day and then turned it off. Cheers!

One thing I didn’t catch you mentioning was the horrible flares everywhere in low light…. They always get mirrored to another area of the frame making all night shots with bright lights unuseable. Some people say “just change the angle” or “align the flares with the lights”…. Easy to edit out in stills in LR but I can’t tell you how many vacation shots have been ruined by those lens flares from lights at night in video…

Another thing we should have is separated AF and Exposire controls.

Once u set up exposure, focus is always locked.

Even if you’re note using the AE/AF lock.

I just watched your iPhone 13 Pro and mini comparison and then this! I'm about to transition from android (currently a Note 10+ user, been using it since its release) to iPhone for the first time and I was almost sold to getting the 13 mini for the form factor (plus price point and specs of course) but I'm glad you mentioned about why you switched to 14 Pro. Made me rethink! 😅 I too wanted something not so big as the Pro Max or my Note 10+ but I would be needing the cameras for taking better videos and photos for my YT channel. Thank you for sharing this, and if you have more thoughts to help me decide, let me know! Would love to get the most out of this major switch in my life. 😂

I went from a 12 Mini to the 14 Pro in December, I miss the light weight and easy one hand use of the Mini but the cameras on the Pro more than makes up for that loss along with the greatly improved battery life that is in a whole nother league

I’m a real estate agent, i use my phone for listing photos and YouTube videos. I upgrade every year for the camera upgrades. I had a basic canon m50 for YouTube videos ended up getting rid of it because I honestly don’t want to get into cameras, I love being able to quickly take photos and videos. Def would love more improvements to the ultra wide camera, shooting indoor photos still isn’t the best but it’s def better. And for YouTube videos the iPhone is better than the canon m50 with a sigma lens.

I have 14 pro, as a photographer it is useful especially with video as still using DSLR. One thing
I dislike is the so called dynamic island, hate it’s now part way into screen, why can’t it be right on edge as before.

I upgraded from my XS Max and I’m so much more inspired to shoot video, even over photos! 4K cinematic mode is way better than last year.
