In the aftermath of the production of "Modulor", in 2021, I kept exploring the LoFi aesthetic. This cover of António Variações emerged from that process. Singer-extraordinaire Suzi Silva kindly lended the vocals, for your best enjoyment.

António "Variações" Ribeiro was a Portuguese singer/songwriter who, despite having had a very short career, became a staple of Portuguese 80's music and pop-culture. Object of a recent wave of revived popularity, his work combined elements of folklore with pop and rock music, creating a distinct sound. Eccentric, extravagant and flamboyant, António's life was as full as it was fleeting, coming to an early end at the age of 39.
Taken from his 1984 album "Dar & Receber", "Canção de Engate" is perhaps António's best known song and greatest hit, having been covered by a number of Portuguese artists and bands.
