It just blows my mind that this type of thinking is accepted as something optimistic and good. Dude is literally thankful that others have it worse than him. He is basing his happiness on the fact that there are people who are more miserable than him. This means that even if he was a 100 times richer and better at everything he does, it would mean nothing to him, if others were better off than him. He needs people to be worse off, to be okay with himself.

So my question is - if tomorrow he was given the option to elevate the third of world population out of poverty by just snapping his finger, do you think he would have done it, or would it become a long winded explanation on how it's complex and it would be disastrous for world economy in the long term?
