The topics that you brought up are some of the very reasons why the Netflix animated show, “Centaurworld”, was a pleasant surprise for me that I never knew I wanted. In the Season 2 (and series) finale episode, the backstory of its main villain called the Nowhere King is revealed, and its themes/subtext mirror a lot of the subject matter explored in Christopher West’s analysis here. The video essay, “The Nowhere King: A Flawed Show's Perfect Villain”, sums up a lot of it very well.

This video reminds me of C. S. Lewis's "Men Without Chests" essay. In it, he describes the results of severing the body and the spirit (stomach and mind) and the evils that sprout forth from not having a heart to harmonize both (a chest).
A man ruled by his stomach and discards his mind makes himself like an animal. A man who elevates his mind but absconds his stomach becomes prideful and sinister like the demons.
