TransAmerica Trail Ep. 1 - Honda CT125 - Crossing Colorado

In August 2022, I completed 2,700 miles of the TransAmerica Trail on my 2021 Honda CT125. This video covers my solo adventures in Colorado!

I had only spent time in the Denver airport before starting the TAT, so this was diving off the deep end to see the state of Colorado. Huge mountain passes, a toe/foot injury, and some lightning encounters brought me to Utah, but not before watching the bittersweet view of the Rockies disappearing into my side view mirrors.

Opher Pass was crazy, much respect to the little Trail 125 for soldiering it out and making it through.

Man, what a fantastic trip!!! I'm betting the old two speed tyranny of the Trail 90 would have been handy!!! Great video, thanks for taking the time and effort to make it!

I've got a photo of me by that same sign at the top of Cinnamon Pass in 2009 with my 1984 Honda GL1200 Goldwing... That was a trip I'll never forget! I had the chance to ride it again on an actual dirt bike in 2019. It made it SO much easier! Silverton is one of my favorite little towns. Mainstreet feels like you are walking into the old west. Looking forward to catching up to your adventure.

I absolutely LOVE that area of the contry!!! I will probably watch this video 3 or 4 more times! You ROCK! I so wish I was 20 years younger.I did all of that stuff when I lived in San Diego and took my little 4 cylinder rag top Wrangler Jeep through that area. I hadn't a CLUE! I am SO enjoying your adventure! BTW, , , You know what Louis L'Amour said about "adventure" ("Adventure's just a fancy word for trouble")... BaHAHAHAHA

What an amazing scenic journey. Seeing folks like you go out and tackle such terrain on a humble bike always inspires. Its my hope to one day get to do the same on mine. I just went and checked my axle nut... amazing you found that part in the road by the way.

When I was stationed at Ft. Carson, CO, in early 70's, I bought a Honda 175 Scrambler. It was carbureted and wasn't worth a flip at climbing the hills. So, I can't imagine how hard it was was on the 125. Kudos on your adventure!

Love the views! I tipped over, off camber, downhill right where you had stopped on California Pass - in wet snow on July 3rd on my TAT adventure. Pinned my toe under the downhill foot peg and broke it! MX boots were the only cast I needed for the rest of the trip.

Great job! I rode the passes with John and Ang last summer. There was a little "paddling/walking" action last year too - well done.

This is really I had a 125 and loved her!
One thing, GoPro needs to be lowered a bit.
Keep it going, dude!!

It’s awesome to push a little bike to its limits… the best fun riding out there!

amazing shots! fellow ct125 owner with about 800 miles on it. great video and journey. One thing you should work on your videos to make them better is to slow on the panning and not move too quickly because it makes it blurry and we can't see the magic that you can see. cheers!

I was in the same areas on my CB500X a couple days after you. Great video!

Great adventure. Here's a tip. Try to pan slower on the landscapes. I was told that by an old guy while shooting the Grand Canyon. Have fun.

I’ve been to Silverton 3 times since 2009. First two trips were with my Jeep (2009, 2010). In 2020 I rode my KTM 450 EXC-F all over the area and did all the mtn passes except Ophir. Silverton makes a nice base camp for my trips down there in my RV.
It’s very rugged terrain and rough.
