At the risk of looking dumb I'd like to recommend a small introductory book on Immunology that helped me. I enjoyed the details of this course thanks to a small introductory book which I suggest the students read by Lauren Sompayrac called "How the Immune System Works." Good luck

I've been following the course and heard the following, not from this course, concerning a group of people that have a mutant CCR5 receptor. The question is if a mutant gene produces a dysfunction CCR5 that blocks the attachment of HIV to the macrophage how does that prevent HIV from multiplying. Doesn't the T helper cells also bind to CD4 and the CXCR4 and bring the HIV RNA into the cell for duplication? How are these rare people immune from getting AIDS (Count of CD4<200)?
