It looks so well preserved I recon that could be refloated with ballast floats then reclaimed like the mary rose and saved for future generations to view in a museum setting

Incredible. I'd had an interest in this story of survival before now and always believed the ship would never be found but this is fantastic.

I've read all the books on antarctic escapades and this story is one of the best, the ross sea party laying out the food supplies for the 2nd half of Shackletons mission were not so lucky.

Pięknie się zachował. Stan jak by wczoraj zatonął. Niesamowity widok. Wielki szacunek dla odkrywców. 😉🤘

For those that do not know the story of what happened you should read the book about it. It’s a story of hope and pure will. You’ll cry like a baby reading it.

My grandmother photographed Shackletons ship, when it was docked in Wellington harbour NZ on its way to Antarctica.. all those years ago..on her box brownie camera when she was eleven. It was a favourite in her photo album, I guess it must be amongst one of the last photographs of the ship above water.

Is there any chance she will be salvaged?

Brilliant discovery! See channel Sea Ice Stories by a scientist involved in the search - plus History Hit for more historical context and Reach the World: all three channels have been filming from the search ship SA Agulhas II.

My great grandfather "Arthur William Hill" was a trinity house pilot and according to his obituary was good friends with Shackleton. In his obit its claimed having noticed how ill Shackleton was he counselled him to not go on his last voyage in the quest.
