I went to the University of Georgia....so many memories. During my time, 10, 000 Maniacs and The B52s were popular bands that came out of the Athens music culture. Athens is a very special place.

Amazing. You filmed a block from where I live. One block from The 40 Watt Club! Wish I’d known you were in town.

Ahh the memories of Athens! I used to live there and my band was very active around 2007 - 2010 between Athens and Atlanta. I miss the days of playing gigs there with so many notable bands and cool venues. Caledonia, Tasty World and of course the 40 watt. We used to always go get food over at the old Weaver D’s “automatic for the people”. Thanks for the vlog!

This was a really great episode. Well done the people of Athens - that bridge is truly iconic (not to mention the tree that owns itself - brilliant!). Love the idea that R.E.M held onto that practice space. Many thanks Jordan - hope you have a great time tonight.

Great video. If I recall the university has a library named after them because of a donation. Love R.E.M., one of my all time favorite bands and I was afan club member for years. Their fan club was the best one I was in, it was something like 12 dollars a year and you got so much including cool Christmas packages that often included a calendar and a CD or a DVD or rare music.

Wow. I was obsessed with the band and town in the mid 80s. I still like to watch the Cutting Edge episode that was filmed back then. Great music memories. I worked at a used record store in San Antonio in the early 90s.

I've always loved REM's music, but I never really looked too deep into their history, now it's caught my interest. Definitely going down an REM YouTube rabbit hole tonight!

Cool video! I moved to Monroe GA last year and go to Athens often. I try to visit landmarks when I'm there if I have time. The trestle is my favorite.

I grew up in and around Athens. I still live in the area and really enjoy listening to some R.E.M. songs. I wish I knew you was in town. I would have loved to met up with you. Nice job on this video!

gorgeous tree. i grew up with their music, love their tunes, it got you through breaks ups, loss of this or that, whatever, you could bawl your eyes out and feel so much better after said and done ... sad they don't have new tunes still coming out. thanks for sharing their stomping grounds. i love hearing the "unplugged" version of songs.
