there are 3 F1 races. Nascar and Indy is more diverse in terms of races and their locations, therefore, they have more races

The big issue with race in the US is how arbitrarily people are assigned to a lot of racial groups

Asian is ridiculous because it presumes East Asian descent but can be applicable to Turkic Peoples, Arabs, South Asians, and South East Asians as well - who are all very different in ethnicity and skin colour let alone culture and geographic dispersal within America

Wish they'd stop it with "race" and just ask about ethnicity. No one fits into a "race" unless they just flat out identify as one. But everyone has an ethnicity. Like, for instance, many south Texans would identify as Tejano if given the option. There's also Texas German, some overlap there. Also Cajuns and Creoles of Luisiana. All throughout the US we have these ethnic groups that most people would identify with before any race.

There are no races, but there are ethnicities and haplogroups.

latino or hispanic arent "races" tho, they describe culture. someone can be a white latino or a black latino. there are even many Asian minorities living in latin america, especially mexico and brazil.

To me classifying Latino as a race seems so weird. That’s not a race but rather a geographic region of the world. For example, how does it make sense that an Italian-Argentinian be classified as “non-white” but an Italian-Canadian like myself is considered white. We’d both be white and have the same genealogy, going back to the same country

I find it interesting and frustrating when Americans assume their current definitions of race are universal, eternal, and innate, to the point of getting offended by other countries who have totally different categories, as race is in fact a political concept.

It's seems the Usa census thinks of race and ethnicity as the same thing which is quite confusing

Filipinos 'bout to have a dilemma on whether to pick Pacific Islander or Asian 💀

Fun fact: After the Mexican-American War, Mexicans were considered 'white' for census purposes. During the great depression, this changed and Mexicans were considered a separate race because the government wanted to limit immigration from non-white countries and Mexicans were not popularly considered white. When WWII broke out and the US needed laborers, this changed and Mexicans were once again classified as white

I think a good layout is

Western European,
Central European,
Eastern European,
Northern European,
Southern European,
Middle Eastern,
North African,
West African,
South African,
East African,
Central Asian,
Indo-Aryan,
Dravidian,
Indian Indigenous,
South East Asian,
East Asian,
Siberian,
Steppe Eurasian,
Pacific Islander,
Australian Aborigines,
Turtle Island Natives,
Abya Yala Natives,
Native Carribbean Islanders,
Carribbean Creole,
Black American,
North American Latin,
Central American Latin,
Cis-Amazonian Latin,
Trans-Amazonian Latin

As long as you remember a "check all that apply" rule, that should cover everyone until we have native born Antarticans to consider.

There are so many 5k, 10k, and marathon races in Chicago alone (where I live...). Not to mention every track program in every High School is JJ, IDK if this is something we can count!

I think American race is basically based on superficial appearance acting as a modern version of the 5 colours race theory - White (Europe), Black (Africa), Yellow (East Asia), Red (Americas), and Brown (West Asia / Everyone else). It's not really broken down by ethnic group. For example I'm Ashkenazi Jewish - what box am I supposed to tick?

This would be quite an interesting topic for a video. How different governments count races (using as reference their census). I imagine there's a lot of difference between, say, Germany and India.

It’s all pretty subjective. Like where do you classify Turkic people? Native Siberian people? What about the Ainu? Are Aboriginal Australians considered Pacific Islanders or are they their own thing?

Latino and Hispanic are not races they are cultural categories. This means that you can be any race (white, black, Indigenous, ect), and still be hispanic or Latino.

Also according to the census bureau, there is only 1 ethnicity, or arguably 2. There is hispanic and not hispanic.
