Only 300 more. But the better one is only 600 more, etc, etc. Like buying a car. You wind up spending more than you wanted because of the upgrades. But in the end, it is your decision.

The 2017 256GB model is the better value. You can find it on sale all the time for $1299 at Best Buy and Microcenter, and for $1269 on Apple's on refurb website.

I’m a current student and have been using an iPad Pro 10.5. I ordered the 2017 MacBook Pro non Touch Bar with 256GB as it will be a Word/PowerPoint/Mail/Video Watching machine. I bought it refurbed so ended up $500 less than base 2018.

For me! A very base user. 2017 still handle with basic stuffs. I see 2018 with touch bar upgrade still a gimmick.
With extra $500. I would spend more to buy a eGPU or a Samsung portable
But I really like the new Butterfly mechanisms. Unfortunately, Apple dont allow to replace it for 2017 models

Great review, I'm not a heavy user so purchased the mac book pro 2017 model. I also purchased a 2Tb super slim external hard-drive for £60 to store my large files like my photos etc. Perfect for me

I just received the 32gb 1tb 15” model. It’s WAY better than my 2016 model. For you music production people out there it can handle serum like a champ and creating music never been so fluid.

People only talk about video editing like it’s the only thing Mac does. So BAM 💥!!!! It’s great on music in every way. (For now anyway)

in 2014 I bought the base rmbp. I found that the 128gb took 3 years before I maxed it. I have upgraded yesterday to the 256gb "base". I seriously debated the 2018 model but in all truths I don't have a need for the Touch Bar, and unlike this video seems to suggest, $400 CAD is a lot of extra money to spend on a marginally newer model. What is unfortunate is that they put the new keyboard solution on the new machine. Seems like apple is trying to force you into the new 2018 model if you want keyboard peace of mind.

Great video! I liked the comparison. I just bought the base 2017 Macbook pro 13" with 256GB for $1269 (brand new). So for the added storage and that price point I went for the base model. Very happy with my decision.
