The Rolling Stones, "Honky Tonk Women" guitar lesson. Today we're using the Catalinbread SFT to provide the round overdrive in this tune. The '69 studio recording of Honky Tonk Women finds Keith Richards' guitar part panned to one side, enabling you to follow along without interruptions. The key to many Stones tunes is the open G tuning, where one finger chords and bluesy licks jump out with ease. Keith also varies his timing and accents quite a bit, an example is the two variations of 'G licks' after the C chord. Isolating Keith's parts also reveals a cleanish tone with a fat bottom end, which is why we chose the Ampeg voiced Catalinbread SFT, a great warm overdrive for both guitar and bass. must say that I ALWAYS watch the riff of the day videos just to listen andy´s playing..

when the lessons starts I close up the video

I supose that the lessons should be nice, but andy´s playing is like my daily drug

I had a V2 head with a 6-10 cabinet in the early 70's. I can't remember if it was 50 or 100 watts RMS, but it had a warning sticker that said May cause permanent hearing damage. I would crank it to get max. feedback, it was so loud you couldn't hear anybody knocking on the door, and my Mother used to jerk the door open and bust in the room and yank the plug out of the wall LOL. She would scare the ____ out of me cause I couldn't hear her come in the room. Play on JIMI
