Kivu: Inside one of the World’s Most Dangerous Regions

Показать описание
In this region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, children are forced into militias and rape is used as a weapon of war ... Brut reporter Charles Villa went to North Kivu, one of the world’s most dangerous regions.

In the documentary, Villa asked a militia warlord about his enlisting child soldiers in a tense interview. He met with Nobel Peace Prize winner Denis Mukwege to discuss his work with victims of rape as a weapon of war, and later visited a coltan mine, where young men, sometimes children, work in conditions described as human rights violations by Amnesty International.

We need to accept our shortcomings as Africans people and stop ranting or scapegoating the west for our woes. The people we should blame are the ones occupying our top public offices..

I feel so sorry for those people to have to work on such appalling work condition. It's a reminder that we should be grateful for what we have.

Kenya will do everything it can to help Congo get it right. The problems of Congo are all well documented. The problems cannot be solved by the same people who have a hand in creating them. This week we are sending our Kenyan military to the Eastern DRC to disarm and restore peace in the region. Our Special Forces have been in the area for over 3 months, gathering intel, and just a few days ago, President Ruto ordered a full deployment of a battle ready force sufficient to get the job done. We hope this will not be another Somalia, where Kenya has had a military presence for over a decade. Our job is to disarm, restore peace, and the Congolese can do the rest.

Any Rwandan watched this, heard that these people inside mines are speaking Kinyarwanda in the background, yet they are in areas controlled by FARDC and other militias. This DRC conflict is so complex at its highest level and manipulated.

Oh man, when the reporter went down the narrow tunnel I literally can't breathe, hats off to the brave Congolese but such a shame to see these innocent souls suffer in these unimaginable conditions 🥹

Salut.

I am a Ugandan, well, well, well...that bit of going deep in the underground.... Is more of a thrill, terrifying, and kind of so deadly.
We all are riping off Congo!
If Congo ever gets peace, many monsters will lose out on such cheap resources... The women and kids are nt protected.
Kudos to this brave journalist.
Keep exposing the evil.
As Africans, we need to seat, revisit where we left Congo and our selves to get right on the track...
