‘Cinematic’ slow motion footage on the LUMIX GH2.

Hi Guys,

This is a video of hacked Lumix GH2 footage (720p 50fps) upscaled to 4K 50fps using Topaz A.I. What do you think?

I've also graded the video with a film emulation plugin - Dehancer - to give a filmic look to the overall video. The grade doesn't help if you're trying to see if the upscale is truly helping the original footage, but i guess in the real world, in particular narrative filmmaking, a grade would be applied, so....

Thanks for all your subs and comments!!
James

This is upscaled 720p?:o Unbelievable! From my own experience with the 720p on GH2 its quality, even hacked, was not very good so I stopped using it and sticked to hacked 23, 976 fps. This looks great - did you sharpen it in post?

Hey James. The talking head part looked okay (although the added film grain seemed very unnatural, and a bit jarring, if you'll pardon the directness). The video is nicely framed and shot, but the quality seems very low. If you do want to continue working with an older gen camera, perhaps look at the OG BMPCC? Otherwise, I think a used GH5 would really have taken these clips to the next level, and would love to see you use Topaz, Dehancer etc to finesse that footage rather than upscale here with so much detail lost
