In the book THe Long Winter, Laura goes out in the storm because the family had absolutely no food, she was trying to keep the family from starving. I enjoyed all the little house books and the tv show.

I've seen A Long Petal of the Sea in the bookshop but now hearing you talk about it I'm sad I never looked at what it's about. It sounds so good!!
I also want to get to NK Jemesin's books but keep putting it off..
You really have great books to get to this year :D

The Fifth Season is on my shelf but not sure if I’ll get to it in 2020. Books on my 2020 TBR for the rest of the year include Anya by Susan Fromberg, Underland by Macfarlan, Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates as well as my Victober list and many others🤗

Before going on to any other book, I need to finish reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I’m on page 652 and just past the halfway mark. Then on to Victober with The Island of Dr. Moreau and probably a re-read of The Hound of The Baskervilles. After that, I may read some more adventures of the 1930’s pulp hero The Shadow. These stories are novella size and are in the thriller / mystery / adventure genre.

Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books tend to be very heartwarming, so I’d bet you’re going to like The Long Winter ☺️

The Fifth Season is also on my “someday” list! I have so many audiobooks and that is one of them. For October I am hoping to get through Family Trust by Kathy Wang, The Far Field by Madhuri Vijay, and Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. If I somehow get through all 3 I will start The Fifth Season! I’m also planning my annual reread of the Harry Potter series, which I love to start in October and be done with in November so that I can reread the Chronicles of Narnia in December!

The Anne of Green Gables series was not written in order (1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 4, 6). So if the 4th is bogging you down, you can skip to the 5th without losing any plot points.

I love Brandon Sanderson. Elantris isn't his best book but it's still very good. I'm curious to see what you'll think of it

I am currently reading The Song of Achilles and want to finish this book. After that I want to read The good thieves by Katherine Rundell and A German book called Amadeus auf dem Fahrrad.
And then let's see 😁
