Something important that is rarely mentioned:
The angle of the chest in the starting position depends heavily on the individual body proportions.
If you have short arms, you will have to bend more to catch the bar off the floor.
The angle of the chest then directly influences the position of the shoulders above or in front of the bar.
If your shoulders are too far in front, you could try to move your butt backwards but it would shift your weight on your heels, placing you in a suboptimal position for the lift.
Depending on the lenght of your arm (just see how much you have to bend to grab the bar), your should probably ajust the starting height of the barbell with blocks to make the exercice more suited for you.

And always remember: Deadlift is a Legpress-Movement 😉

Another game changer. I’ve been doing it inefficiently for so long.

Thinking back to when I first started lifting, a tutorial like this wouldn't be helpful. More likely than not people who need tutorials know this stuff and what a proper deadlift entails but they don't know how to execute it. Alan Thrall's is the best deadlift tutorial I've seen.

The "glass wall" que is perfect

I personally do not use a belt when I perform deadlifts because I maintain proper form and do not arch my lower back, even during heavy lifts. Instead, I rely on my leg and shoulder strength to execute the lift with a conventional stance that aligns with my pelvic area.

Why the hyperextension at lockout though? Ouch

I don't know about this one. I do try to keep my shoulders over the bar to have a more vertical/efficent pull. as long as you don't pull into your lower back and move your hips forward during the pull, there shouldn't be too much stress on your lower back. having my shoulders back too much brings me into an awkward unbalanced semi squat position with too much bodyweight behind the bar.

I don't do the head up at all, i prefer to keep the head in line with the spine and then push up.

I feel like his lower back is still slightly rounded during the correct way versus the “incorrect “ … it’s nothing excessive but still isn’t technically “neutral” unless he got some big ass erectors that just make it look round

Remember that even all this information is great, is a generalization to target a broad population. But it is not the same biomechanics for one with long femurs, someone with short arms, or with a short upper body or short legs. Certainly the principles are valid generalizations

I’ve always heard to have the bar below the shoulder blades

This is not for everyone though.
I just can't do that "open book" starting position.
I have to lean forward with shoulders or I can't grab the bar at all unless I sit down in a squat position where my butt is almost at the same height as my knees.

Not the ultimate: no mention of taking the slack out of the bar before lift off.

Could you do a video on deadlifting with a trap bar vs Olympic bar?

Bro I can't man I've literally been trying for 4 months I went from doing 140 to 60kg just for form and my backs still fucked. Not risking it anymore

Conventional & Sumo are two completely different moves, I've learned anatomy has a big role in optimal position however bar path and wedging determine your execution.
