just to clear things up with the whirlpool.. it's created by a large tidal pool that empties through an underwater pipe in the road below camera man's feet as tide drops, there are also gates to hold water in pool so the whirlpool could really be powerful.
It was being pulled into and through that drain that caused his death.
I live nearby and was always shit scared of the thing and there were plenty of danger signs and railing.
