"Sometimes it's just the super practical things that matter."

A lot of us don't realize how true this is until we're in a situation where we're without these things

When your MOS is Murder Hobo, staying warm is paramount 😎

Agreed.

It's 20 degrees and I'm wearing my issued beanie and I love it

I love the combat pants. Never realized how much I needed the extra pocket room until I put them on.

I still have my poncho from the mid 70's and my boot camp dog tags (1971) and M-65 OD green field jacket but it is too small now.

My friend just retired. I've been spoiled with free boots for the past 20 years. Lol

I had an interaction with another guy who noticed my fleece cap in public and asked if I was prior service, first time that’s happened to me

I somehow managed to hold onto my M40 protective mask. I signed out for it along with everyone else, but wasn't present when it was time to turn them back in. I totally forgot about it and or some reason my unit never noticed that I was still signed out for it.

It really is the practical things that you can, well, practically use everyday that you end up being the most attached to.

I work in the mines. When on surface it's cold as hell compared to underground. I will always throw my fleece cap on when I'm on surface. I've been out for almost ten years and still rocking the same cap. Warm and durable. Still have my woobie too, I love my woobie almost as much as my kids

I began my service back in 1989, I have used my brown army issue towel every day since then. First on hikes and camping trips, now just to cover stuff. They don't make them like they used to. Balaclava, patrol towel and great jacket still do service in winter too.

Neck gaiters too. Combine those with the beanie and your gortex top and you’re damn near unstoppable

I absolutely loved my fleece beanie and the fleece jacket. Its 18 degrees now and I can say with the upmost confidence, they just did these two right. Lol

I was a Grunt and also have my old field jacket liner that is the same material and quilting as the woobie! I'm a lot older though and the fleece cap wasn't around back then! My first field jacket was solid OD green. They were just starting to issue the woodland stuff

Bro, it's -20F here with the wind chill right now and I just got in from snow blowing wearing my fleece beanie and my USMC issue pt sweater... Thing is, I've been out for 13 years. Some gear is not only awesome, but man does it last forever.

I know 12 military guys and we frequently talk the wooby was something the army took back

Things the army gives you that work a blanket, a hat and a pair of pants

Can’t forget the waffles and silks. It’s 9° here and I’ve worn my fleece cap and waffles all day 😂

My M-I-L sewed poncho liners into the wet weather top, (early 80s) for my squad. I still have mine to this day.
