Are Bohemia Interactive going to announce DayZ 2?

Here we'll explore the possibility of if there will ever be DayZ 2. The answer is a mixed one, but I try to give you enough information to conclude yourself. Also, keep in mind this is entirely my opinion based on the information I have available and my decade of dealing with BI as a developer.

Hope you like the video – this one got deeper than I intended,

So, this is all opinion, based on dealing with BI since like ‘06 as a consumer – it’s not meant to be taken as a negative towards DayZ or the development team - it's commenting on BI the company - and I don’t claim to be an authority on any of this. Also, keep in mind at this time DayZ was in a much worse state a year ago than it is in 2023.

My point is less complicated than that: I just don’t think DayZ was meant to be a long-term thing, but rather a capitalisation on popularity at the time. And that is why certain community requests are so difficult to implement, because when they were making it they never intended for any of these updates to be a thing. And although they are the developers, it seems like they’d much rather be associated with Arma – that is their baby; DayZ is more the consequence an irresponsible one-night stand. And now they’re stuck with it and no real clue what to do with it. Because keep in mind we’re about to receive a 4th instalment of Arma, and we don’t really have our 1st full instalment of DayZ. And it’s not through lack of popularity... so, in terms of a sequel? I don’t think we’ll ever personally see one – but if we did, it would certainly be a game built with longevity in mind.

I rather like this unwanted child that keeps finding its way home from the woods..
Stability fixes yes... more toys4bois no..but now its going "Rusty"
It's supposed to be an adult hardcore survival game and thats why the bois are flocking to it. but when it gets watered down to just another 'shooty build-a- base'.... it will be abandoned and thrown back into the woods.

While I do hope we'll eventually get a Dayz 2, I also wouldn't mind if the current Dayz would just keep getting better. It's already almost perfect the way it is but maybe add some gameplay stuff and make zombies roaming the map instead of just spawning near POI's and towns.

I love this game for its gritty realistic looking graphics and the way everything moves and feels natural. It's truly the closest thing to a survival sim you can get at the moment. All other survival games look and feel like games while Dayz looks like the real deal. No saturated colors, no cartoony graphics, just you alone trying to survive in a harsh world filled with forests, mountains, zombies and other survivors. I just love it! Long live Dayz!

No chance of a sequel. This game was created as a Company endorsed labor of love, then turned into the Alpha testing for ArmA 4 new engine. I said this 5 years ago and got laughed out of every DayZ room, only to be vindicated with TADA Reforger. The test phase for, we all now it, ArmA 4.

If they make a new one, they can leave behind the older consoles without truly abandoning them. The older consoles will have their game and the newer consoles can have theirs that exceeds the ability of the old ones.
