The only thing you'll miss about a Land Rover Evoque is the view from the hard shoulder when it leaves you stranded

Thanks. I bought a lexus nx300h (albeit fsport) based on your first presentation of your car. I had it for a month now. I am very happy with it. On top, I am re-assured by this new video even though I am far from where you are. Your videos are valuable outised the UK too.

I liked and found your initial review of the NX300H very helpful. I feel hybrid is the way to go. Our brief was suv, petrol, good quality, reliable and not ridiculously expensive. Both my wife and I have a Lexus NX300h. I got both on Lexus Finance HP at 5.9%apr. Also like you found extremely reliable. Big plus was that if you have serviced at Lexus dealer you get warranty extended each year for up to 10 years from new or 100, 000 miles (whichever comes first). In my opinion impossible to beat (except other Lexus or Toyota product such us ux200h, rx450h or Toyota RAV4 of similar age )
I find your videos interesting and informative.

Hi Matt, I've been driving Lexus cars for 13 years now. Apart from servicing and consumables I haven't had any issues. All my friends have been driving German and JLR vehicles, every one of them has had issues. I do conceded that they're probably more engaging to drive but reliability, quality and comfort mean more to me. If I want fun I just stick my leathers on and go for a hoon on my bike.
Thanks for another great post.

100% well said, in comparison I had 6 jaguars, they where good cars but quality and durability wise not close to a Lexus, and now I have bought a Lexus rc300h and I love it. Tax, reliability, durability, fuel and comfort!!! Top of the list. As long as serviced properly it should last a long time.
I love your honest reviews. Thank you 👍

I don't have an NX, but if anyone's interested, for the past 2 years I have calculated all the costs of my 2005 Lexus RX400h, bought it exactly 2 years ago. The calculation below:

It made 57.500 kms on 5825 litres of petrol, av. 10, 13 litres per 100km. I spent 8.761 euros on petrol plus 5.305 euros on servicing, repairs, replacements, taxes, MOTs, insurance etc. That included changing the timing belt, the gearbox liquid, rear brake caliper, tyres, 12V battery, one bigger paint job and obviously the usual maintenance every 10.000 kms.

Total running cost for 2 years: 14.066 euros, that is 7.033 euros per year, that is 0, 24 cents per 1 km.

I will now have to spend another 600 euros for the new tyres and the driver's seat really needs to get new leather, probably another 700-800 euros. Apart from that no major things. I live on the Costa del Sol, Spain.

Matt - come on - BMW i3, REX - brilliant little car - I do the same journey (50 miles) and each day - brilliant - I wish I’d done it earlier.. oh, and I’m a petrol head and love it!

I looked at the NX, IS and RX when I was browsing cars but settled on a 2015 GS450h premier a few months ago. I love the car - getting 39mpg even with the occasional thrashing. I genuinely can't think of a car brand I'd want to replace it with for the money. The reliability + performance + fuel economy is just incredible. I'm going to stick with it for a good few years because I just can't bring myself to downgrade in any aspect.
I'm slightly annoyed at Lexus for not having the new RAV4 engine in the NX until this year. If it had that engine back in 2018 then I think that would have got my sale but I'll potentially keep my GS for a few years and then get a 2022 NX when they come down in price

Great video Matt. I’ve been wanting to have this update. 🙏the £30k for the Fiat 500 is too much in anyones books, totally agree with you. Given your mums average mileage, staying petrol & automatic makes sense. The Lexus EV is quality and nice to drive. 👌 your total running cost indicated is good to me, I think your mum must be so proud of her son and his generosity and smart decisions.

I had a the IS 300h as a company car & after 5 years it still had the original brake pad that it left the factory in Japan - & it had 100, 000 miles on the odometer!!! That’s Lexus for yah.

You have just got to love a Lexus, I have owned 4 and they have got to have been the cheapest cars to run taking everything into account, I like the understated luxury and the special content feeling I get from driving them . Turn key bomb proof dependability and it is nice to be different. The feeling of driving a best kept secret . You have to own one to know how well thought out even the most simple things are even down to how the switches feel to touch and use.

Today I've seen a Corsa EV for 31k!!?? Pure comedy gold... Btw the NX looks like a really good option.. My friend has just bought Toyota rav4 with the same setup and it's pretty amazing on fuel considering the size of such vehicle.
And has nice chunky tyres so is comfy and quiet...

Great vid, but when calculating the price per mile you should include an estimate on depreciation given that's the biggest cost when driving newer cars. Also makes it more comparable to leasing. Keep up the great vids!

Hi Matt, let me tell you a little story about cheap EV. Here in Romania, the most popular one is the Dacia Spring, its's made in China on some Dongfeng platform, it used to cost with some money from the government(ECO voucher) 8000-9000 euros with the mention that you could not sell it for the first year. Now the prices has gone up, the waiting period is 10-12 months for a new one, again from China( very ECO) and there have been a lot of them on sale at 14.000-15000 euros on the second hand market.

Thanks for that rundown Matt. We had a total of 7 Lexus cars over 17 years for our, now retired, business South Wales Chauffeur. They were our favourite cars for quality and reliability. We had a couple of LS's, GS's and two RX450h cars, so I think that was a great choice. Regards, Bob M.

Hey Matt, why not try the Kia Niro EV but the 4 plus specification, which is the top of the range one. Not the new shape one (22/72 reg) but the 21 / 71 reg one with the new Kia Logo. You'd be pleasantly surprised. Leather, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, DAB radio, Android auto and Apple Car play, a wide-screen sat nav, rear heated seats, 280 mile range when fully charged, decent sound system, dual zone climate control, LED headlamps and taillights, oh, and the balance of at least a 7 year warranty. So if you buy a year old car, you are covered by Kia's warranty for the next 6 years. They don't break anyway. Plus a sub 7 second 0-60 time....
