"Atmospheric river" is simply a green new deal version of the Jet stream setting up over the same region causing water droplets called " Rain". Ride a low pressure along the jet and you have increased air pressure called " wind".

This one was a such a dud and yet again there is no rain in sight and warm temps in the future. Getting that feeling that last months massive atmospheric river was a fluke. The RRR is back

For 100 years, these were called weather fronts. Please stop the Atmospheric River nonsense which makes people think this is something brand new. Ditto for calling cold fronts the 'Polar Vortex'. Back in the day in the Bay Area several days of rain from Hawaiian origins was called the Pineapple was a good name.
