The “squirrel head“ was part of original idea or beast wars. Specifically it would involve more with Tigatron. Originally it was supposed to be a regular orange tiger instead of a white tiger and would have a mutant face. Basically is already was that his pot was damaged and was not sure if he was machine or beast. This idea came from the toy version. Since he was a repaint of Cheetor’s 90s toy, you would basically just flip the head down and that was supposed to be his face.

These guys are so cool! I think the weird mutant robot head is supposed to be a reference to the original Cheetor toy. He had a battle mask feature that looked very similar to that

Other people already mentioned it but when I bought the OG Tigatron in the 90s, he had that mutant face as well. All the OG beast wars releases did iirc

The “cybernetic mutant looking” face is a homage to the “beast head” the original Cheetor toy came with.

The "squirrel head' is actually his mutant head, all the figures in the first wave of BW had this second flip-out/fold-out face, but were phased out after the wave.
Which is really a shame because I honestly love em.

The “squirrel head” was from when there was supposed to be mutation I think, and it’s on the og toys. Some characters still have theme as their main face like Inferno I believe. Other people exlplain it better.

Ehhh...idk about it being similar to MP34 Cheetus/Cheetor; unlike literally every other Cheetor toy, the Masterpiece doesn't use the cheetah head for the chest...that's right, it uses a fake chest. (If I had to guess, I think the cheetah head is incorporated into the body akin to what MP41 Dinobot did) Pretty strange they had to do that, especially since MP50 Tigatron uses the tiger head for the robot chest.
