It’s good to be reminded that the original goal of most car camping aspirations was unencumbered, economical fun. 👍

Best take-away for me, from this video was "Try it for one night in your driveway"...makes a lot of sense! No need to panic if you don't like it, just get up and go inside your house. Thanks so much! 💚😊💚

You don't need a lot. The point is to get out of the house for a couple of nights.

This is the video I was looking for! I just bought an SUV and I decided I’m using it for what it was intended. I car camped really really like embarrassingly close to my house last night but I’m super proud of myself and I want to push myself to do more a bit at time. Thanks for this!

1) comfortable sleep system: padding underneath (sleeping pads are good, but not required), sleeping bag or blankets sufficient for 20F colder than you expect, dry socks and a warm cap if it’s cold; 2) rain gear! Always! 3) warm clothing (again, 20F colder than predicted), including a wind proof layer; 4) adequate food. If you plan to cook, source of heat (love my GasOne stove, $29), fuel, plenty of matches, a pan, and something to eat with; 5) flashlight and spare batteries; 6) first aid kit, mosquito repellant, and sunscreen; and 7) last but not least, waterproof shelter, whether vehicle or tent.

Beyond that, a sun hat, sunglasses, camera, journal and pen, and a camp chair are nice but not required. Don’t forget your toothbrush and the coffee!

I have been watching YouTube for months trying to determine what to buy for camping in my 2014 Chrysler minivan. Your advice has been the BEST to settle my nerves and keep me from draining my bank account 😂 Thank you!❤

Thank you for your video, I've gone camping with my sister and I want to try just by myself and sleep in my car. I am encouraged by your video! Have a good day!

1) Vehicle and gas money, 2) somewhere to sleep, 3) food system, (food and preparation 4) ability to empty your bowels (camp at parks or use a bucket, or whatever), 5) clothes that layer for any weather, 6) cell phone and charger.

We do not have air, so summer nights are brutal. I set up a tent in our yard and slept there! THAT got me excited about camping again! It had been years, my hub and I are empty nesters... so it was like staring all over. We keep it simple, pack just the comfy essentials and we LOVE IT! We enjoy being outdoors, the fresh air, the bonfires, meeting new people... it's been a wonderful experience! ❤

The Voice of Experience! My wife & I love vehicle camping! I am 82 & she is several years younger. We have experienced temperatures ranging form upper 90s to beloe freezing as we traveled from place to place during living history trips. At our ages, it is not as easy as it used to be, but we still love it! Thanks for a great video. May God bless you.

One item I purchased for my car was a 12v rice cooker. I can cook while I drive or when I get to my location. It saves me fuel. Even good for just heating water if needed. One of the best $30 or so I have spent for my car other than a battery jumper. :)

I love the advice to sleep in your driveway first. Great advice.

What a refreshing video, with a beautiful and friendly lady who, unlike so many people who make videos of this type, spend their time showing us the endless amount of things that, according to them, are necessary to carry in the car, 1001 gadgets, most of them useless or of little use. Thank you, you gained a subscriber!
A big hug from Portugal and best wishes for a long and happy life... preferably on the road, traveling and meeting beautiful people like you! 🤗🫂☮❤☯

Don't be afraid of dry goods for food.

Great video, great advice. From my experience doing minimal camping I recommend the most important thing is a paper map for when there’s no cell coverage or the sat nav goes wrong! I recently wasted two hours because my sat nav is an idiot!

Went dirtbiking at Lake Pillsbury. Camped in truck bed on lounge chair and sleeping bag. Weber grill for meals. Ice chest. 1980s. We survived.

great advice Diane!!! I just completed my inaugural outing. Went four hours away with a youtuber I've been following who is from FL. 20 of us met up in Jacksonville at a campground on the beach. WONDERFUL Time!!! Keep it simple is excellent advice!
