Did you know? Right Said Fred received songwriting credits on Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” due to its use of the melody from their song “I’m Too Sexy.” After Michael Jackson’s death, over 100 unreleased songs were found, and although Sony planned to release 10 posthumous albums, only three were released. Beck declined Weird Al’s request to parody "Loser" but later regretted the decision, and song titles cannot be copyrighted, meaning they can be reused freely.

Beck didn't realize that being parodied by Weird Al meant you'd made it.

Hear me out. If I was musically gifted, I would write and sing songs with a bunch of famous song titles, and when someone wasn't sure who sang it, there would be a chance they stumble across my song. I would personally hate that.

I wonder what she had stolen from Right Said Fred when the song is mostly from spoken words and the only melody there is stolen from Jimi Hendrix)))

I think a parody of your song being written and performed by weird Al actually legitimizes one’s music more than this isn’t true if anyone else doing a parody but weird Al isn’t making fun of the song itself or the artist. His parodies are on a whole other level and I think he chooses songs and artists whom he respects rather than ppl he finds stupid which is the general idea of parodying a song. Think about it, weird Al is respected as a musician in his own right which often is also not the case with ppl doing parodies. He’s incredible and I normally am not that into silly songs or parodies except in rare scenarios but weird Al is different he genius
