My name is Anne 😊 I'm a FINAL year PhD student at UBC. I do research in the field of drug delivery and nanomedicine. I enjoy making "a day in the life of a phd" vlogs to document my journey and share the ups and downs in grad school. I also like to make phd student advice/tips videos related to grad school! Thanks for stopping by ^^

Great tips Anne! I think contacting supervisors before applications is really helpful when trying to figure out who should be your supervisor and where you want to attend grad school. How they respond to emails can tell you a lot about someone and it's even better if they agree to a meeting before you apply. I think the supervisor-student relationship is one of the most important things that will determine whether you have a good experience in grad school so it's essential to choose the right supervisor!

Hey Dear. Hope you are good and blessed. I am planning to persue my phd in UBCas an international student, i had a lot of confusions in my mind but your words just worked as a therapy for my stress for different kind of things an international student faces.
Actually i was enjoying to listen about my future but then video ended🤭.
More love. Thank you so much.

Great video again Anne! Super interesting about people reaching out to supervisors before applying for PhD positions - I was fortunate that I new my current supervisor from my undergrad and he actually reached out to me to see if I was interested in the PhD!

Wow, I definitely had it easy! I didn't have to worry about any PI-student relationship until I got in and was in my lab rotations. Although it's helpful to reach out, at least for me here in the US, reaching out to faculty members was never a thing prior to matriculation. Very helpful:)

Hi Anne! Congratulations, saw you graduated from your PhD! I know it's been a minute, but would really appreciate if you shared how you sent your cold email! I wanna reach out to the professor that I really want to be my PI, but I'm really really nervous ;_;

Thank you for this video! Does the funding package include the fees? I am confused by this because in the US, when tbeg say you receive a funding of 22k, that js for stipend.

I am currently an undergraduate, and there is a specific lab at UBC that I am very interested in working in for either a masters or PhD. Should I reach out to see if I can work with the lab for a summer internship? If so how should I go about it?
