nice looking splitting tools for sure that was a nice block of cherry there you split. I have a couple cherry logs i have to get on the mill. i want to make some hatchet handles with some of it. I have not split with a fiskers but i would for sure . I have been useing the 4 pound maul ( glorified axe with fiber glass handles when i split by hand. Wood cutting is a addiction for sure ait for it to cool down a bit to get next years started

Great review Chris and yes I did read the description! I also think the product specifications tag that they attach to the axe is a nice touch.

They look nice. I just don’t really find a need for heavy, long handled mauls. But then I’m not a big guy. I find myself using a 4lb maul with a wedge to pop open big rounds. Then quickly switch to the the Fiskars x25. If there’s a stubborn round that a wedge and sledge won’t split, I save it for the gas axe or toss it in the woods lol.

Is this still your favorite firewood splitter?

Not available on Amazon anymore. I tried your link hoping you would get credit but not available. Any ideas where else to grab one?

Poor Mr. Killinger. The fanboys will be after you again. They probably want diamonds on the strike collar, haha! Bad people and/ or idiots have to mess with good people in the comments sections. Tell them to go take it up the tail pipe.

Surprised the medium sized one is only 4lbs. You really could swing that for awhile. Most of the vintage splitting axes I find are about that weight. Usually 4-4.5lbs. When I start using my 6 3/4lb maul it's really only for the tough stuff. Even that feels a bit too heavy sometimes.

It's so hot outside you are a beast. I just split half of a large round and felt like a great big fatty lol.

I love your reviews. Relaxing, informative and just wholesome all round. I have the smaller splitter which I will also reserve for mobile use. I have the ‘non fancy’ Adler 3000g splitter which doesn’t have the flared cheeks, overstrike plate or leather mask.

My question is, should I buy the Super or the Long? I want both ideally but since we (sort of) left the EU the foreigners have been punishing us in GB with stupid extra taxes, so I’ll only buy one at a time. (Don’t ask…)

Which should it be?

I have:

X27
S2800 Husqvarna/Gardena
Japanese splitter
Adler 3000g splitter (with beak)
Adler Short Splitter

Excellent review and demonstration Mr. KILLINGER. I personally prefer the head design and dimensions of that particular axe/maul you used in the video. For real-world production splitting for the average man this is the best compromise in my opinion. Knowing your background and personal use habits, this makes this tool and product line look very desirable...great job sir...

You’ve sold me on these Adlers! I am surprised to here that company is over 100 years old.

Not long ago I got one from a car boot sale in UK .... cost me £5 ... now that was a real good bargain. Works great, but with my old wreck of a body I mostly leave axe swinging to my son, while I cheat with a hydraulic splitter. It usually becomes a bit of a race - which he always wins

I normally use a smaller splitter for kindling or making splits smaller for a smoker. That one reminds me of the house maul I put together. Definitely great for camping.

I'm very happy that you found such good splitting axes. I know you love splitting wood, but I hope those will make it easier on you. Be blessed. My friend.

Thanks Chris! Another amazing German brand is Ochsenkopf. Same flat back handles but with wrap around collars and a steel plate over the wedges!

May have weight but for most of those you split with one hit. Takes time and more energy to swing a second or third time. Is it easer to split in slow motion? HaHa😅

That 4 pounder looks like a really nice axe to use!
